TNG S1 Blu-ray replacement info:
Dear Star Trek Fans, We have discovered an anomaly in the English 7.1 DTS Master Audio track in our Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1 Blu-ray Box set. There are some episodes that inadvertently had their front channel designations incorrectly mapped, resulting in an undesired playback experience when listening to them in a 7.1 or 5.1 Surround Sound environment. We are quickly working to remedy the situation. Replacement discs (Disc 1, 3 and 4) will be made available free of charge. Please email phe.stng@bydeluxe.com for details regarding the replacement program. You may also call 1-877-DELUXE6 (877-335-8936) between 8am to 6pm Pacific, Monday-Friday. We strive to provide our fans the best Blu-ray experience possible and sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
The number I called said that the replacement discs should ship within five days after August 10th, so I guess they're still manufacturing them right now (and preparing future S1 releases with the correct discs.)
Make sure you have your S1 discs handy when calling.

i never got this episode. even when i still watched, i was like "whaaaaat" at the end.
if it wasn't so blurry, that would make a great photo shop contest.
"who is Tasha Yar crane kicking in the gut?"
Should I start watching the original series or The Next Generation?
I'm fairly new to this series; I've seen a couple of clips from TNG and I've only realized now how interesting the series looks.
seriously the only characters I'm familiar with are Spock and Picard :(
I would say the Star Trek movies are a good start. skip number one and go to Wrath of Khan, yuo don't really need to know much about Star Trek Prior to enjoy it.
as for the show, Original series is dated (just as a heads up) but has some good episodes. for TNG watching Encounter At Farpoint is probably the pest place to start, followed by Q Who as an introduction to the Borg and then really any good TNG episodes.
DS9 and VOY are also worth a watch. ENT is forgettable for the most part.

Well that how watched them anyway, I found it enjoyable like that.

Here's what I'd suggest for a beginner, in order.
Star Trek Episode "Space Seed", Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek VII: Generations, Star Trek VIII: First Contact, Star Trek X: Nemesis, and then Star Trek (XI, the 2009 one).
Voyager can be watched at any point during that. You don't have to explicitly follow my list, it's just the one I would suggest.
If you do watch VOY, DO NOT WATCH THRESHOLD. Thank me later.
I've been going through Trek Core's "Rare photos" some of them are neat, I thought this was nice

Not sure what season this is of Enterprise, but Robert McNeil was directing in his Voyager Uniform heh.

And replace Nemesis with Insurrection. It's really not as bad as they say.

Best one.
Wow, thanks for the suggestions! Although it's gonna take me a while before I actually start watching anything because I'm not even sure if they have Star Trek dvds in my country. :(
So I'll just settle for the short clips in the meantime...
The yellow android guy is named Data, right?
he's adorable

Is there anywhere online where I can watch DS9? I don't have Netflix and can't find anywhere else with even the prospect of it. I've only seen a few episodes and I'm really interested.

I just looked up Threshold and laughed my face off at the ending. What he fuck.

they had little lizard babbies
I think voyagers problem was looking back they didn't have a problem, by the middle of the series they still were chuggin along with a fully functional ship even though something like half the crew was even Starfleet trained, and the ship wasn't designed for deepspace voyages, yet they took on stuff that would have blown up enterprise several times over, and don't even talk about the halfassd ending....

I think of Voyager as the 'Gilligan's Island' of Star Trek. I think an ending where they needed Enterprise to help from the other side of the galaxy would have been more entertaining.
The relaunch novels make up for the bad ending of Voyager, what was in those novels should have been the last few episodes.
They gave it the closure it needed.
