Who's Durst? I remember the episode, and then I looked it up on Memory Alpha, I see no such name or anything close to it.
Just an extra that was around for a few episodes who they then killed off by having his face cut off and put on another alien for him too look sexy to a Klingon.

I still didn't remember Durst anyway.
Not that he was a memorable character or anything, but he's the first crew member that's died, apart from the first episode. Would've thought it'd have got a bit more attention than it did (Pretty much 0)

Deep Space Kanar [editline]12th January 2013[/editline]
This is voyager, where no one knows the meaning of continuity and the reset button is pushed after every episode finishes
Which is dumb as hell considering it's not like the other shows and they can't just stop at a station and get new crewmen if something went wrong. But oh well. Liberated borg and shit.
This is voyager, where no one knows the meaning of continuity and the reset button is pushed after every episode finishes
Still my favourite series though, can't really explain why.

I just fucking love how HD season 2 on TNG is on bluray is. You can see the dust and fingerprints on the prop!
Damn Granger!
Posted at 15 december 2012.
I've just watched episode 8 to 21 from TNG season 2 today... Close to 10 hours... I feel sick.
Currently 30 january 2013 Just finished the last movie with the TNG cast. Month and a half... 5 seasons and 3 movies.
so there's been a lot of buzz on Star Trek Online about the Ambassador and I was really bored last night so I doodled one with my mouse I've always been infatuated with the Ambassador, I made a model of one when I was about 8, and now the opportunity to "own" one is great.
Just recently started watching Next Generation again and oh man, it's better than I remembered. I think I like Data the best, he just seems like such an interesting character to follow.
I really like Data and Worf. I'm going through every episode for the first time (mostly) as they come out on Blu Ray. Never noticed it growing up but Frakes (Riker) is a god awful actor. How did he get so suddenly fat and old too? My favourite Riker scene so far is one where he's sitting in a chair talking and then mid sentence he stops just to stand up, walk behind his chair and lean on it, then carry on. No explanation or reason he just fucking moved to the back of his seat. The meeting was still in progress. If I was Picard I would've shouted "Sit your hair fat backside down this instant number one, for fucks sake" [editline]3rd February 2013[/editline] Also I love how Wesley needs advice on chatting up HUMAN women so the first people he goes to for help is Worf and Data TOGETHER. [editline]3rd February 2013[/editline] I'm a little hard on Frakes. He gets better as time goes on and grows into the role. I really like Riker too. But he's easily the weakest actor of the bunch.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark here guys. The third Trek film will feature the end of the world in some way.
I've almost finished watching season 1 of TNG's blu ray remastered edition. I have to say... they did a pretty poor job of the whole thing. A LOT of effects are reused excessively, and some of the 'new' CGI looks absolutely awful. That being said, the new film stock transfer is excellent and I honestly never noticed what scenes were just up-scaled SD. There's some funny business with the audio in a few eps (I had to mute the center channel in a few to fix the robotic droning voices - something was out of sync there I guess?). Overall it's fantastic watching it all again in HD, but I feel they just didn't try hard enough. Any true fans of the show would have done a better job of many aspects I feel if given the same budget and assets to work with, guaranteed. Looking forward to season 2!
The whole HD thing really does give you an incredible amount of detail though. It's amazing how easy it is to spot stunt doubles with poor makeup, lots of fingerprints on consoles, mistakes etc... good shit! Looking forward to season 2!
If you didn't like Season One, you're going to hate Season Two, its god damn horrible, a different company then CBS Digital worked on Season 2. CBS Digital is doing Season Three so it should be back up to Season One quality. Regards to reused effects, that is done on purpose, they want it to be as faithful as possible to the original release. So if the original show used the same shot twice, so does the Remastered. Also Season 1 used very little CGI, I didn't even notice the CGI until it was pointed out to me, every establishing shot of the Ent-D is the original physical model. The only CG replacement I think of right now is during the Saucer Separation sequence in Encounter at Farpoint. They couldn't find some of the original footage for it. Any visual effects that were added on top of the film had to be redone, like phasers, torpedoes, Transporter Effect, green screens, some matte paintings they had access to, some had to be recreated like the interior of the Borg Cube in Season Two. Interesting fact, the redone transporter effects in the remastered are not CG, they were recreated the same way they made it during the original production, glitter in a glass of water. Check out this page below it has HD and SD comparisons with notes on what has changed. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/observations.htm Also, have a Best of Both Worlds trailer in 1080p. [editline]3rd March 2013[/editline] Oh and the Audio issues you mentioned, were supposed to have been fixed, you can send away for a replacement disc. I think.
It's all good... The most obvious thing to me was how faithful they were in season 1 to the original shots - there were things I always thought seemed weird back in the day (like the 'animation' of the Enterprise doing that semi-curve to warp thing, if you know what I mean) but they maintained the exact same style quite well, just with a nice coat of modernization to the overall visuals. Regarding the audio, I was thinking of just ripping the discs, and if I do that then I can correct the audio as I go and it shouldn't be a problem. I'm now about 5 eps into season 2, and you're right, it's... not so good. The CGI Enterprise they have looks awful for a start. It's like when someone takes a photo and goes nuts with the shadow / highlight tool in photoshop - hard to explain but you know it when you see it. Thanks for the link though, I've been taking a peek at some of their comparisons as I go through each ep, it's interesting to see the detail they went to in some regards. But christ man, Data in HD... endless source of laughs.
Which episodes with the CG Enterprise, again there are only a few shots of a CG enterprise, one I can remember is a shot of a probe being launched in Season 2, and painfully obviously because of the lack of Film Grain. Season 2 also has shots of a CG Bird of Prey, which I didn't even know was CG until it was pointed out again, the shots replaced were missing from the Paramount Archive. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/observations/amatterofhonor.htm Its actually a modified CG BOP from DS9, Doug Drexler, Makeup guy in TNG and Visual effects in DS9 (quite the jump lol, he did the aged Picard makeup in the episode 'The Inner Light') has kept a bunch of CG models hes made over the years since he started on DS9 and contributed them to the production. Close up, you can tell its CG, but if I was watching this on my TV from the couch I wouldn't have noticed.
I thought the generic scene in season 2 of the Enterprise flying straight at (then past) the camera (like on a chance of scene or act) was CGI? It looks so smooth, bright and awful. I don't have a picture sorry but the one thing that stood out the most to me was the deflector dish - it looks entirely... wrong? *edit* Found a pic online, it's ugly, but I think it looks terrible in motion; [t]http://tng.trekcore.com/hd/albums/2x01/thechild_hd_360.jpg[/t]

[editline]4th March 2013[/editline] Nope, that model is Physical, http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/USS_Enterprise_%28NCC-1701-D%29#Background_information That the Six Foot model first seen in the very first episode. [editline]4th March 2013[/editline] Here is a BTS shot with the models
S2 was handled by someone else, and that's why it looks like royal poo. Thankfully, the original CBS-Digital remastering company are coming back to do BOBW and Season 3. TBH, I love Season 3. It's the best season of TNG yet. [editline]6th March 2013[/editline] BTW, you guys watch any of generalgrin or gozorra edits?
The more I watch of season 2, the more I see what people mean by it looking worse. Like the end of 2x06, when the Enterprise departs from that incredibly low-res planet, the ship model looks terrible, like they tried to blur it all up or something. Very strange... Still, I'd say so far it's been 99% fine, it's just little things here and there that seem like they were rushed a bit or something. Good to know the s1 crew is coming back to do s3, that's fantastic.
Been on a Star Trek addiction lately On season 4 of TNG now, been hooked on it. My favorite episodes by far are 'The Emissary', 'A matter of honor' , 'Deja Q', 'The Offspring, 'Sins of the Fathers'', 'Brothers', and Best of Both Worlds I found Yesterday's Enterprise overrated and short

Just watched 'Reunion'. I cried when [sp] K'Ehleyr was killed by Duras [/sp]
