Fuck the death penalty, I love living in Canada.
I thought I horribly misread the OP and read it again just to make sure.

What they had done, was devise a method of curtailing the amount of life a person could have. If he was ten minutes late, he lost ten minutes of his life. An hour was proportionally worth more revocation. If someone was consistently tardy, he might find himself, on a Sunday night, receiving a communique from the Master Timekeeper that his time had run out, and he would be "turned off" at high noon on Monday, please straighten your affairs sir, madame, or bisex.
And so, by this simple scientific expedient (utilizing a scientific process held dearly secret by the Ticktockman's office) the system was maintained. It was the only expedient thing to do. It was, after all, patriotic. The Schedules had to be met. After all, there was a war on!
But, wasn't there always?
you guys are the biggest saps for an emotional letter from a convicted murderer.
the death penalty does suck and it's pretty lame that he has to be killed in like a week, but just because he's saying he isn't guilty doesn't make him any less guilty than he actually is.
the nine supreme court justices are not incompetent, they have their shit together. i don't doubt that this guy is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
but if somebody could pull up the actual case files and police reports or audio recordings from the court sessions well then that would be another story
I read all of the articles you posted an now I'm more convinced that he's guilty, but calling us saps wasn't the greatest thing to do. I admit we should have looked more into the issue instead of crying and rolling in our tears, but we're not emotionless bastards. His letter was truly convincing, and unless you saw the articles before you read the letter or you're a lawyer, then you should also have at least felt some little flutter of sadness.
Fucking Texas as usual.

Save the innocent man Steven Woods, sentenced to death
666 signatures needed! They said he was involved with satanism?
What? Why?
I really don't like the death penalty, but even more so now. This guy really needs a retrial, even if he did do something. The more people who know about this, the better, I hope.

Check the articles above, they have evidence that he was complicit in the crime.
I'm no supporter of the death penalty, but this guy really isn't the innocent choir-boy he portrays himself to be in his letter. In fact there's evidence that he is actually quite a sick and twisted individual who loved to torture animals among other things, really throws his credibility out the window.

I felt some flutter of sadness for the guy when I read his sob story. But something about his letter made me think "hey, wait a second, let me see if I can find some actual evidence as to what happened". Then I actually looked at some evidence and seen what kind of freak this guy is and how it was totally inconsistent that was with his "innocent guy caught up in a mess" story.
Regardless of the facts of the case, the death penalty is a load of shit for this very reason.
If there is the slightest bit of doubt whether or not the condemned is guilty and he/she is executed, the entire system has failed.

Weird, I read that story about a week ago.
Welcome to humanity.
I sincerely hope we get a dramatic moment where the technicians with the lethal injection refuse to kill him.

The people handling the execution would have to be scum to consent to the execution.
This is disgusting.
I hope we can put a stop to this

Don't think so, unless they have stopped it already.

That's a shame. Sad to hear that.
Was he seriously bragging to people about how he committed the killings? Holy shit. It comes off as a little fishy to me that his own defense lawyer would say that, though. What kind of shitty defense lawyer sells his own client down the river like that?

Tomorrow is the day D:
This makes me feel good knowing I helped a little by signing the petition.
Also when I saw the thread title, this had to be done:
[sp]"In 2011, Steven Woods was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. This man promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade in Los Angeles Underground. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and you can find him, maybe you can hire... Steven Woods. *A-Team Theme*[/sp]

I'm not sure if he would be very good at A-Teaming. He is not a suave guy, crazy pilot, master planner, black beef-cake or even that mexican from the later series.

Yeah, I know. But when I saw "for a crime he didn't commit" I instantly thought "A-Team".

Texas is notorious for killing people like this. Everyone knows it. The murderer has already stepped up and admitted his crimes.

Just because a guy admitted to killing them in court (during the sentence hearing no less) does not mean he actually did it.

Regardless, unless they have solid evidence that proves he was involved there's no reason to kill him.
If he actually gets executed without a retrial and reconviction I'm never going into the state of Texas.
