American Idol is the American version of the UK show Pop Idol.
The only shows I know of which where American and then remade for the UK they are The Apprentice and Law and Order.

The Apprentice turned out OK though, mostly due to Alan Sugar being the most badass foul mouthed businessman in the country.
If any of you actually watched the first episode of the series instead of bitching about it then you would notice that its actually not bad, sure its not as good as the UK version but i don't think its trying to be better.

It's the EXACT SAME PLOT AS THE ORIGINAL, of course it's not going to be complete shit. Bottom line is, the show was already done and this is nothing more than a glorified scene for scene remake.

Never seen the British version, so I guess I better watch an episode before I watch this so I can get a good idea if the American version is any good. And I do agree, America's copying a lot of shit from over the pond, mainly because American television is a dying breed. Our most iconic show at the moment is about stupid orange guidos going out and catching STDs.

I've been watching this show so far, and I've been liking it. I don't know if I should watch Shameless UK version, because I'll have to catch up with 8 seasons or so.
