You mean Ferngully?

Because as we all know, what study of one of the most important aspects of modern life could POSSIBLY measure up to the brilliance of a bunch of blue furries in space fighting Hitler?

jews in france fighting hitler
I've seen parts of Hurt Locker, maybe I should actually buy the movie soon.
It's not that bad. I recommend you watch it on a big tv with a nice sound system.
Avatar was okay, but all of my thoughts about Avatar can be summed up in this video:

this guy is pretty damn hilarious.
Hurt locker can go eat a dick. It was pure garbage, it didn't even have a proper story.
Uhh yes it did.
You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
The Hurt Locker wasn't that good in my opinion.
Uhh yes it did.

no he's right, the hurt locker can go eat a massive dick
Hurt Locker was dissapointing because I could not connect to any of the characters, what-so-ever. It felt like an ordeal to watch it.
I mean fuck, all this crap I kept hearing about how good The Hurt Locker was. When I finally got a chance to watch it, it really wasn't anything special.
^ above two posters are 110% correct
Award should have still gone to either Up or Precious imo.
district 9 didnt win anything :saddowns:
I liked Avatar....... but I am not an Avatard.....
clearly 99.99% of people who use Avatar Forums are just plain Avatards, writing letters to the academy?? COME ON WEIRDOS
Inglourious should've won Best Picture in my opinion anyway :D

Checking the forum though its nice to see at least a good portion of them are mostly rational. Sure, they almost deny the reality of Hurt Locker winning Best Picture and keep strutting "2.5 BILLION DOLLARZ :smug:" in everyone's face, but at least they aren't all raging and flaming. If by some grace of God a Twilight movie had received such a nomination I'd expect the coming of the Four Horsemen by comparison.
I enjoyed the oscars... whether they were great decisions is another discussion.. but it was a good night
not a particularly EXCELLENT year of movies, but still
2011 oscars should be better
wow i cant believe anyone cares about these stupid award shows
That was unexpected.
Best Picture I mean.

The Avatards. They killed the movie IMO. Godammit because of them I can no longer say "I liked Avatar" on the internet without being labeled as a retard.
I think D9 should have won, it was a friggin' awesome movie!
But Hurt Locker is also good.
I loved both films personally, but The Hurt Locker did outshine Avatar when it came to story. It was a close to real life portrayal of what really happens. Its kinda funny that a smallish film like that beat a $500 million dollar film. You could feed half of Africa with that money. :psyduck:

This is basically how I've been feeling. I thought it was an ok movie, but the people who love it and what they say about it are making me have to hate it. I think it's fine if an action movie has a generic plot (and a million other generic elements) as long as it brings some fun times along... But people swear like it's the movie of the decade or movie of the century or some shit, and I've just spent so much time trying to tell people it's not quite that good, that now I pretty much have to tell people it's a pile of steaming shit or they'll think I'm agreeing with them about how "groundbreaking" it is.

Agreed.
I personally loved the movie, didn't mind the characters or the plot, but the hyper obsessed and delusional Avatards make me want to tell them to bring a gun to their heads.
On /tv/ they were so fucking obsessed, all the time saying "NEY NEY IS MAI WAIFU :3", I had to tell them (Please forgive me) about the multiverse theory and that in some universe she was real to prevent them from getting depressed.
Now I feel bad about it because they'll continue being delusional.
What have I done.

okay I haven't seen the movie yet, but my dad, who works with my cities combat engineers, said that everyone he's talked to has hated the movie because it was inaccurate - it was too hollywood. I mean sure, it might acknowledge the viewer with a better understanding, but just remember that it is only a movie.

It's too Hollywood because... it's Hollywood. I don't think anyone should view The Hurt Locker thinking it's a perfectly accurate depiction of life in a frontline military unit. If you wanted that you should watch a documentary or read a book because you'd be very lucky to find it in a film or in television.
Take Saving Private Ryan for example; the opening is incredibly realistic but the storyline is totally Hollywood. Band of Brothers is probably the only thing I've ever watched where I have though "wow this is realistic", but that's because the book it is based from is non-fiction.
Inglourious Basterds should have won best screenplay and best picture.
But it was still hilarious to see James Cameron lose to his ex-wife.

hahaah, whaaaat?!
Oh fuck, now I'm very happy the hurt locker won.
Jesus christ that's funny
If I remember correctly when they did the showed montage for Horror movies they showed a clip of Twilight... what the fuck? How the hell is Twilight even scary?
oh! the fans are pretty scary so I guess that counts.
Up better win atleast one of these
God yeh!
Besides all the bitching about Avatar and the Hurt Locker, I think it's safe to say we can all agree on one thing:
Christoph Waltz deserved it.
I bet the Hurt Locker is cheating.
