when did i do this? and yes martin luther king did say that his discrimination is more hurtful than white discrimination and even advocated reparations for black people: "A society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for him, to equip him to compete on a just and equal basis."
The reason I said that is because you cited other kinds of discrimination being worse as a reason to not care about this case, instead of clarifying your point and finding another way to say that this isn't a case of sexism/discrimination, or refuting the argument others have put forth ("if we made that kind of joke, we'd be in trouble").
Since my edit is going to get left in the dust, let me just slip that in here:
Look, could you just try and think a little more before making a post? Every single time I've seen you get into an argument it's because other people can't understand what point you were trying to make.
If you'd just said
Aw, cmon guys you're over-reacting. Yes, the joke was in bad taste, but guys make plenty of misogynist jokes and get away with it. This isn't indicative of the larger phenomena you claim it to be.
then this whole argument wouldn't have happened.
I'm sorry if I came off as angry, but please, just be a little clearer and I'm sure this kind of thing can be avoided.
The reason I said that is because you cited other kinds of discrimination being worse as a reason to not care about this case, instead of clarifying your point and finding another way to say that this isn't a case of sexism/discrimination, or refuting the argument others have put forth ("if we made that kind of joke, we'd be in trouble"). man i said that on the third post i made in this thread!
if we wanna talk about male sexism let's talk about circumcision, let's talk about domestic abuse. not shit that you saw on TV and feminists.
in response to someone talking about double standards when it comes to male sexism:
because male sexism is on a completely different level than female sexism. male sexism becomes irrelevant when you consider that men are in power which means they have higher economic mobility and stability. the problem in our society with women is institutional misogyny. male sexism is far more benign and far less damaging, but everyone in threads like these will not consider that out of spite.
compare this obviously empty-headed joke which was more out of taste than misandric to pornography and women portrayed in fiction. if you can't see the difference then you're being intentionally naive and that's exactly what's so destructive and that's exactly why no-one here is helping to defeat male sexism in anyway.
i already said there's real sexism and discrimination against males and i already said there's plenty of misogynistic shit on tv! just nobody wants to listen because we're more interested in fighting than having a legitimate discussion about sexism.
and that fat cunt atheist in the OP is to blame
The German TV channel GIGA had an awesome show where they showed a (comedy) clip about "reverse-sexism". Too bad fucking asshole motherfucking Sky shut the whole channel down even though they were doing better than ever (financially)!!!
Anyway, here's one of them. I think it's pretty easy to understand even if you don't know German:

It's about how men are forced to do military or social service for half a year while women don't have to do shit.
It's about how men are forced to do military or social service for half a year while women don't have to do shit.
that's silly
no they wouldn't. you're exaggerating the issue to prove your point. what's the situation reversed? if a man made a joke about dismembered vagina's? i saw a comedian make one once, he was hilarious.
The reverse of women talking about mutilating a man and going "go girl!" on a talk show is a male comedian talking about dismembered vagina... Are you fucking serious?!?!
Wouldn't the reverse of a male comedian talking about dismembered vagina be a female comedian talking about dismembered penis? And wouldn't the reverse of women talking about mutilating a man and going "good job, go girl!" on a talk show be men talking about mutilating a girl and going "good job, go boy!"?
no those double standards don't exist because they are an illusion. you're talking out of your ass and while that's normal and okay for you to do i don't like it when it paints me as something that i don't agree with. sharon osborne making a joke about penises isn't a double standard, male rape cases being dismissed as okay is, why don't you get angry about that instead of some stupid bullshit on TV.
How the fuck doesn't the double standard exist?! We've just witnessed it! It's ok for women to go "good job, go girl!" for mutilating a man. Clearly it doesn't exist. The fan page of the woman who raped a guy for 3 days doesn't exist either! I just can't take you seriously, it's like you are closing your eyes, putting fingers in your ears and go lalala.
but my point is that you don't care, you just wanna be angry and spiteful because you like to hate feminists and talk shit about them. how much do you really care about male sexism that you speak so compassionately about it on a web forum? do you give to organizations fighting it?
What point are you trying to make? haha That I'm not serious because I don't belong to organizations fighting male sexism? hahaha
I just saw someone allegedly arguing for equality who's going to say that some double standards don't exist if they are in favor of the group you are supporting and I have an opportunity to discuss this with that person, so I'm doing it.
i already said there's real sexism and discrimination against males and i already said there's plenty of misogynistic shit on tv! just nobody wants to listen because we're more interested in fighting than having a legitimate discussion about sexism.

We are making a legitimate points about sexism it's you who's going "that doesn't exist" "you just want to argue" "you are not serious"
I agree with a lot of the stuff he's saying, but as a lot of you have said, guys don't really care as much as women do about these things. 5 women can go on national tv and talk about how funny cutting a guy's dick off is because guys will take it as they mean it; as a joke. Although as I watched this guy talking and the video of the little boy getting stripped by 2 girls it did make my blood boil a little bit.
I don't mind that they can do and say these things but when they can call men pigs and disgusting for doing things that women get applauded for its messed up. I agree that the double standard shouldn't be there and either make it so that no one or everyone can do these things
The reverse of women talking about mutilating a man and going "go girl!" on a talk show is a male comedian talking about dismembered vagina... Are you fucking serious?!?!

that's not what happened, they said it was awful right after the joke happened and they also apologized for it and said it was a bad joke to make.
start to piece together the evidence and start looking at both sides and look at how women are seen in the media and how men are seen in the media. one tasteless little joke by a dumb woman is real sure, but when you start stacking it up against pornography and the objectification of women which certainly does not happen on the same level as men, and this is if we are talking purely about the media!, i start to see that this so-called double standard isn't stacking up against men at all, no matter what a fat bloke says on youtube.
the point i'm trying to make? you only think there's a double standard because it gives you a good reason to hate and hate makes you feel real good about yourself. and that's why when people post all i see is some empty headed shit.
note how on the original video for this sharon osborne thing one of the most top-thumbed comments is violent. how do you reckon that fits into your world view? that's like 173 people against one woman.
man i said that on the third post i made in this thread!

I see now what you meant it to read, but that's not how people are going to (and certainly not how I had) read it. Citing real examples of double standards is kind of a roundabout way of saying this isn't a double standard.

I don't want to fight you man.
It just seems like every time I read your posts, the focus is on aspects of the discussion other than the one you're actually arguing about, you know what I mean?
Like the details are arranged in a way that suggests a meaning other than the one you intend. For instance, with this whole argument I was getting "you guys shouldn't complain because other groups have it worse" far more than I was getting "this isn't sexism."
At any rate, I'm done. I always misunderstand what you're trying to say, so I'm not going to argue with you anymore.
the only thing you should take away from this is when you complain about male sexism be honest and real. don't waste your time with assholes that just wanna get youtube views out of you.
i know that women are not even close to being equal to men in both american and canadian society.
I'm sorry but where do you live? Please explain this.

Nobody is denying that there is a lot more sexism against women in society compared to men, the topic of discussion is that that fact doesn't make sexism against men okay.
I'm sorry but where do you live? Please explain this.
i already explained this. i live in california and i knew a girl who was up for advancement in her college. now uh, she wasn't the prettiest one compared to this other girl but she did a lot more work but she still lost it because the other girl was a lot more pretty (massive tits you know)
i even confronted that scumbag and he didn't even give a shit.
anecdotal but still fair game. i'm a dude and because most of the people in charge are heterosexual men i never have to worry about my dick size when i apply for internship.
and yes there is male sexism in society as well, but it doesn't extend economically nor in school as much so it's a bit safe to say that.
I must admit I didn't watch the whole video but I saw the tv show's quote and from the comments here i seems like I probably would agree-- but I honestly could not get past the fact that in a discussion about feminism and women's views he resorted to calling them cunts right off the bat. Way to undermine your own argument, there, dude.
Nobody is denying that there is a lot more sexism against women in society compared to men, the topic of discussion is that that fact doesn't make sexism against men okay.
well i never said that male sexism was okay, especially when i said that male sexism does exist in forms outside of the media, it's just not that prominent in the media as some people might lead you to believe.
everyone's just jumping on me because of what they think i said, even though i've already explained it a couple of times
well i never said that male sexism was okay, especially when i said that male sexism does exist in forms outside of the media, it's just not that prominent in the media as some people might lead you to believe.

Just a curiosity before I go to bed. Only two people actually apologized for that, and Sharon basically threw the notion out the window. This is the near-exact opposite of your spiel about how everyone apologized, tippy. Are you sure you're looking at this objectively?
i already explained this. i live in california and i knew a girl who was up for advancement in her college. now uh, she wasn't the prettiest one compared to this other girl but she did a lot more work but she still lost it because the other girl was a lot more pretty (massive tits you know)

Ironically thats what a lot of racism/sexism is based on. Here let me give you a counter example. Only the cute guys win american idol a lot easier then ugly ones.
[editline]24th July 2011[/editline]
Again if that is your only reason to believe females are way below men in american society then I hope you will understand why I won't agree with you. Not to mention if your using this as a way of saying all men care about is tits then your sexist. Basically your using a male sexist stereotype to defend your point that females have to deal with worse sexism. Ironical isn't it?
that's not what happened, they said it was awful right after the joke happened and they also apologized for it and said it was a bad joke to make.
The woman who kept a burglar for 3 days as a sex slave still has a fan page, the two girls who stripped a little boy naked still get away with it. There is a double standard, doesn't matter if you say it doesn't exist.
start to piece together the evidence and start looking at both sides and look at how women are seen in the media and how men are seen in the media. one tasteless little joke by a dumb woman is real sure, but when you start stacking it up against pornography and the objectification of women which certainly does not happen on the same level as men, and this is if we are talking purely about the media!, i start to see that this so-called double standard isn't stacking up against men at all, no matter what a fat bloke says on youtube.
Yes? So? We should ignore displays of sexism against men then because there is more sexism against women? Is that your point?
the point i'm trying to make? you only think there's a double standard because it gives you a good reason to hate and hate makes you feel real good about yourself. and that's why when people post all i see is some empty headed shit.
Yes I have imagined the whole thing! Women aren't allowed to joke and go "go girl!" about cutting a man's dick off, the woman who raped the burglar doesn't have the fan page and the two girls who stripped a boy naked were punished in the same way as if they were boys stripping a girl. Totally!
note how on the original video for this sharon osborne thing one of the most top-thumbed comments is violent. how do you reckon that fits into your world view? that's like 173 people against one woman.
Oh my god! Someone said he's going to kill someone on the internet! They must be serious! Call the cops!
Also 173 people are against a retarded joke. Who'd have thought!
Not to mention if your using this as a way of saying all men care about is tits then your sexist. Basically your using a male sexist stereotype to defend your point that females have to deal with worse sexism. Ironical isn't it?
wow that's a pretty big jump, not at all.
Yes? So? We should ignore displays of sexism against men then because there is more sexism against women? Is that your point?
no if you could read you'd have gotten my point by now
This guy really made a good point here. I can't say how much I can agree as I agree a shit ton. Very well put.
wow that's a pretty big jump, not at all.
[editline]24th July 2011[/editline]
no if you could read you'd have gotten my point by now
To me it seems like your solution to sexism is for men to be equally discriminated against, however I think everyone else's solution is for there to be no discrimination full stop. I think, I still don't know quite what you're arguing for.
no if you could read you'd have gotten my point by now
Everyone in this thread seems to think your point is what I've said. Maybe we're imagining things again. What is your point then?
i think it's going to take a while for society to get the hint when it comes to feminization of men
we're selling men's perfume for christ's sake!
wow that's a pretty big jump, not at all.
Well your using one example to show that practically all females have to deal with sexism. The only way fir that one example to work is if your saying all men are like this. Again if only one example is why you believe females have to deal with far more sexism then you don't have too much supporting your belief.
I don't have enough of an understanding of the issue to pitch into this argument but for some reason I really hate thisispain's avatar.
I must admit I didn't watch the whole video but I saw the tv show's quote and from the comments here i seems like I probably would agree-- but I honestly could not get past the fact that in a discussion about feminism and women's views he resorted to calling them cunts right off the bat. Cunt isn't a female exclusive insult.
