Can't wait to pilot the Highwind
They went for a cyberpunk feel, but there's no reason for Barrett to use shades at night...
His vision is augmented.
Person kicked out from SOLDIER (Military fighter) after barely joining and having to fight [sp]Sephiroth which got him skewered through the abdomen and watching Zack die in front of him while entrusting Cloud with Zack's "legacy".[/sp] (Previous stories / Crisis Core spoilers) can be quite a traumatic experience to be fair.
That and he got [sp]injected with mako and Jenova cells as part of the whole Sephiroth Clone experiment.[/sp]
It would be really cool if the open world was to scale this time and they gave us more vehicles to navigate it, like cloud's bike from the motorcycle escape sequence.
The gameplay trailer looks amazing, but a part of me feels like they're going to arbitrarily split the game up into "chapters" and make you buy those because of how big-budget this looks. Still, pretty wicked.
Funny that you say that... I'm cautious about this plan, but if they can keep up a constant supply of these parts, I won't have too much of a problem. Still, congrats for being so on the nose!
wait what are you serious what the hell
Yup. Maybe one day Legend of Dragoon will be remade, but after playing it recently...that game needs a lot of work and arguably 80% of the dialogue should be re-translated or rewritten. Anyways, this first trailer looks great. Couple voice actors have me worried, but the visuals and gameplay look like a blast.

If they push out buggy shit and expect us to pay out the ass, then I guess I'll just watch LP's of it.
Square is usually good about quality. usually. We shall see.

Still, congrats for being so on the nose!
Uhh what. They'd better not charge too much for each part if they are going to do this. I love FF7 but I'm not going to pay full price for a bunch of parts to a game that was previously in one package. Only way i can see that not being bullshit is if each "part" lasted as long as a typical current final fantasy game, or the parts were cheaper than your usual purchase.
I believe they mentioned that each part would have the volume of a full game each. I'm thinking it'll be 3 separate parts; one for each disc of the original game. But who knows. Honestly, I'd be fine with getting an episode every few months or so. I'm sure it'll all come out on one disc eventually. Resident Evil Revelations 2 did the same thing.
each one being a "full game" is so vague though, especially when you have shit like the order 1886 these days
Yup. Missed opportunity. Also here's a clearer video than the one in the OP
When looking back at the trailer I can totally see the connection with the game's graphics and UE4. Alot of the sparks that are made by things in it seem to be done with GPU Particles.
I really dig the new combat system. As a nintendo kid, I never really grew up with Final Fantasy VII, and when I tried to play it recently, the slow, repetitive battle system kind of put me off.
Supposedly the system is still ATB but in a more action-based manner, so I have to wonder what's really going on there.

The localisation was horrible. Sometimes I think I got lost with what the characters said to each other. That, and I'd want them to kind of fix the leveling up system. There's heavy grinding required to get a few levels in the game, and if it wasn't for the great battle system, I would have been bored fucking shitless.
Dispite my name, i've never actually played FF7. I'm half tempted to buy the PS4 port of it and actually play it for once.
I feel like that I'm the only one who likes tun-based combat anymore. And splitting the game up into episodes is complete bullshit. I will not be getting the game until all of it is out (if I end up getting it at all).
I still like turn based :( [editline]7th December 2015[/editline] Shits relaxing
If they really can't/won't get Nobuo Uematsu, I hope they get whoever made the Crisis Core music. I had a few problems with CC, but the music wasn't one of them

I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the Remake team.
I still like turn based :( [editline]7th December 2015[/editline] Shits relaxing
FFVII isn't necessarily turn based though, depending on which of the three options you pick. Active is pretty much real time combat.
FFVII isn't necessarily turn based though, depending on which of the three options you pick. Active is pretty much real time combat.
The ATB system is still more akin to turn-based then the KH stuff we're getting. Plus I find turn-based super relaxing.
Looking at things from a broader and more open perspective when they say they'll expand and alter the story and that the game is definitely going to have major changes even if all the main story content will remain (they've pretty much indirectly confirmed crossdressing will remain, albeit Nomura doesn't have a design for it yet), I think if they're going to expand content and make parts of the game as episodes, then they should expand Midgar. After all, in Final Fantasy VII, AVALANCHE does all of two bombing missions (one day after another, retardedly enough) before they get a plate dropped on them and the rest of Sector 7 Slums. But various posters and people chatting imply that they've been around longer, something Before Crisis expanded on sorta but it just wasn't the same group and that whole plot thread doesn't exist in VII. Why not make it so that rather than jumping from one bombing to another, the game gives the player the opportunity to do various operations with AVALANCHE across the city, like weakening Shinra security forces, or helping improve the group's reputation amongst the depressive society of the slums and above? It'd kill the rapid-fire pacing of the Midgar chapter, but it'd also be the perfect opportunity to take a deeper look into characters like Biggs, Wedge and fan-favorite Jessie who all get offed extremely fast in the original all things considered. And it'd also give players ample reason to care about AVALANCHE in the first place, as well as fully comprehend the potential collateral and damages they may be causing by basically being a domestic terrorist group.

Dunno if it's youtube, but the framerate in the non-rendered scenes were like 20 fps. I don't know how I feel about it. FF7 has a lot of charm in its camera system, pre-rendered backgrounds, midi-sounding music, and graphics. I think trying to recapture it with updated graphics is kind of missing the point.
