Best mission/sidequest structure as well. The only thing the original DR was missing was a simple sandbox mode and better gunplay.
That's what stops Dead Rising 1 from being my favorite Dead Rising. The sandbox mode in Off the Record really makes that game for me. Sometime I just wanna dick around and not have to worry about anything.
Best mission/sidequest structure as well. The only thing the original DR was missing was a simple sandbox mode and better gunplay.
and not being exclusive to Xbox
7770 is a pretty old card... honestly I'm not surprised.
Not really old - okay, 2.5 years - just really mid-range and kinda old.
I think I'm going to miss this game out, which is a big shame.
Not really old - okay, 2.5 years - just really mid-range and kinda old.
My point was was if a card like that can't run a game like DR3 on minimum we have an issue.
Well there you go. DR1 is arguably the best in the franchise, though it's obviously the most outdated. Incredibly clunky controls that DR3 fixes up a lot on. DR3 just feels so much smoother and more fun to play, but a lot of the charm is gone imo.
I'd actually argue the controls in DR1 are the best. Just in the way that frank moves, not the buttons to do it with. Frank was faster than chuck at level 1, and Frank also had the ability to swing a chainsaw WHILE RUNNING. Drink a quickstep while wielding a chainsaw makes you an unstoppable blur of death. If one single thing had to be brought back to the series, it would be running while swinging a chainsaw. Seriously. It's the most satisfying thing you could possibly do. And with all the other shit you can do in DR3 that makes you so hilariously OP, you'd think they would have included this. [editline]9th September 2014[/editline]
late response as fuck but in the dev streams, the tech savvy guy was saying the game is way more gpu dependent than cpu
and if that is the case there's no excuse for it not having crossfire or sli support.
I have a GTX560 and I can only run in it 720p on mostly medium settings and still stutters like a mother fucker sometimes. I didn't expect that at all considering I can run a lot of AAA on ultra with no problem. Thankfully, a friend gifted it to me randomly so I didn't waste any money on it. Just have to wait for more optimization patches I guess. But, keeping that in mind. I still find myself going back to it and playing it just to slaughter zombies cause its so fun and gory. I've put 9 hours into it stuttering like a bitch cause its just THAT fun in my opinion. Though, I am due for an upgrade.
I can't get it to even reach 30 FPS with an HD 6850, even at lowest settings It is a bit dated, but I haven't had such a hard time with games like Wolfenstein I don't know if I should just deal with it or what but I'm having a hard time playing the game at all
pretty sure it runs identically on all settings with an amd gpu, that's a big performance bug at the moment. you might as well play it on high, it will likely run the same.
why would it run identically on all settings with an amd gpu when it doesn't on an nvidia gpu.
why would it run identically on all settings with an amd gpu when it doesn't on an nvidia gpu.
because afaik they did little to no testing on amd gpus so its probably a driver issue this has happened before with new games
There is a driver error with Nvidia cards that causes the game to crash on startup and randomly in game. Gameplay has really changed too. While the weapon lockers make it easy to just whip out the OP combo weapons and make item scavenging a thing of the past, the combat itself is just awkward. DR1 and DR2 had this Dark Souls-esque combat system where weapons would have very specific movesets. Sometimes the attacks would move you a good distance, and some would keep you still and attack all around you. But DR3 has this weird auto lock on for melee attacks. It's not a bad thing, but it makes it really easy to mash and know you're going to hit things with no risk of getting grabbed. And the bosses are piss easy on normal. Any other Dead Rising game boss would hit you for 2-3 life blocks, while DR3 bosses barely hit you for half a box. You can max life and beat any boss by face tanking their attacks and just engaging in a DPS race.

The brown graphics and realistic graphics clash with the silly gameplay mechanics = Ludonarrative Dissonance!?! The last time I have heard the term was being used so incorrectly was with Bioshock Infinite and not even then I cringed so damn hard.
[sp]red[/sp]'s tackle takes out 3 blocks what are you talking about.
try nightmare mode, the mode that's supposed to most closely resemble dr1's difficulty and time constraint
7770 is a pretty old card... honestly I'm not surprised.
Not really that old, just weak. It was a lower mid-end card when it was released [editline]9th September 2014[/editline]
except not really sorry but a titan should be able to get 60 1080p on any normal game this compounded with the fact that the dev streams had much lesser computers getting 60 leads me to believe that something went terribly wrong in the porting process
His point is that it's not primarily the port that's bad, the fact they couldn't even get the XB1 to render it with 30FPS at 720p says a lot about their competence when it comes to optimization in general
It runs on minimum on my E6600 2.4GHz, Gforce 4400, 4GB Ram 10-15 fps, yes but it runs! For my personal experience that's quite a good port, it's a damn shame others have so many problems though.
[sp]red[/sp]'s tackle takes out 3 blocks what are you talking about.
He is really the only boss that is even remotely difficult, and even he is extremely easy. And mind, I was playing on nightmare mode, and had barely upgraded my health at all.
i think the easy thing is just because he's already played through the others you really cant introduce a lot of new challenge in a sequel because that leaves out everyone who didn't play the others
i think the easy thing is just because he's already played through the others you really cant introduce a lot of new challenge in a sequel because that leaves out everyone who didn't play the others
The easy thing is because it is way, way easier than the previous games.
He thinks the most OP weapons are in the beginning but its far from that. In the second neighboring city you can find the schematics to a weapon called the "Ultimate Shout." It's basically 4 traffic cones attached to a speaker and a car battery. It sends a blast wave of Nick's amplified screams as well as electric shock in a gigantic radius. It has 45 uses and you can mow down close to 100 zombies all standing together in one shot.

Like those gas zombies from Dead Rising 2, but with more variety.
there are lol also its hilarious that tb missed the shout weapon at the kenny sidequest considering its op as shit
Zombies on the level of hard as Gas zombies? From what I've read up on there isn't anything like that in Dead Rising 3.
id say the prisoner/asylum zombies are up there, and maybe the kings honestly its hard to gauge the difficulty of the zombies when its encouraged that you just run them over and swim past any other group to the objective
I'd have to play the game for myself to gauge the difficulty of said zombies, but again from what I've seen they aren't all that impressive. When the gas zombies suddenly appeared it was almost like the game changed tactics, and made you come out of your comfort zone. I'll admit the Kings seem like a step in the right direction, in that respect. Crashing into them has consequences due to it damaging your vehicle, and they aren't just your average zombie, more of this would be great.
I was a bit unsure of DR3 at first, especially with the longer time limit it gave you. Thankfully they threw in Nightmare mode that adds back that hectic "Gotta get the hell out of here" urgency with the need for careful time management that the first two had. Nick also grew on me as a character. His nice-guy idealism is a far cry from the hotshot-paparazzi Frank or the stoic Chuck, but that's a good thing since it makes him unique and memorable from the other protagonists.
If I could have the damage taken and done in Nightmare while having all the time of Normal, I'd be happy. I don't like strict time limits, but wading through hordes without much risk gets kinda dull.

While in the previous games, you could feasibly most, if not all of the side missions, even on your first playthrough, that is really not the case in Nightmare mode. Meanwhile in the regular story mode there is barely a timer at all. And of course those are the only two options available, there is no middle point. They just have more health and more damage.

First playthrough it took me 3 game days to get to Chapter 4 because there was just so much to do. Still, I prefer the urgency over the leisurely approach.
