The Hobbit was great, I don't see why people couldn't stand 48fps though - it didn't make that much of a difference except that it was better and smoother. Loved the film, and realised it's almost pretty much a remake of The Fellowship of The Ring.
how faithful is it to the book?
how faithful is it to the book?
I guess about 70% of the book (my statistics is not bullshit or made-up :v: )....well for the most part, the movie does attempt to follow the book more closely now though some parts and minor details were changed and added for dramatic purposes. No major changes to the plot. Some details from other books like Appendix section of TROTK were added into the movie [sp](especially the character Azog which only appear in the appendix and only mention briefly in the Hobbit but he was major character as a secondary antagonist in the movie so that part wasn't very faithful. He was suppose to be dead by then)[/sp].If you were a purist, you wouldn't be too happy about its "faithfulness". It was 6 six chapters of the original book with the addition of other sub-plots into a 2hr 50min movie.
Will Jason Becker ever be able to play guitar again? Actually a better question would be does als ever go away?
Took my new guitar for a spin in Amplitube. Just heard this song for the first time tonight and thought what the hell. 30 minutes of picking around, here's me playing along to it. Without a pick.

I prefer Pre-American Idiot Green Day but a few of these new songs are ok.
Meant to put this in the Guitar Thread. Oh well
green day's new songs would be a lot better with a different singer

actually a lot of their old songs would be better with a different singer too but their new ones his voice really doesn't fit

That's kinda disappointing, but I get why you'd need to add things to it, besides the [sp]Battle of Five Armies[/sp] there wasn't much action in the book, it was kind of like a dark fairy-tale IMO. So I'm guessing the extra stuff was peter jackson trying to make it an "epic"?
[editline]30th December 2012[/editline]
and I actually like the nods to the Appendix in the LOTR movies [sp]Like Elrond telling Arwen what will happen to her if she chooses to stay behind is a scene-by-scene transplant of that portion of the appendix and gandalf directly quoting it's description of Aman when talking about the afterlife[/sp] but [sp]Azog is in it? Wasn't he beheaded and skewered on a stake by the dwarves about 100 years before the hobbit happened? I remember the grandfather of one of the dwarves was killed by him, but they killed him shortly after[/sp]
Can anybody tell me what song/artist this is?

I can only assume it was to make it more entertaining. Like you said, there wasn't much action in the book. Without those extra stuff it would have probably been one whole snoozefest journey that will only appeal to purist. The likely result of a 19-chapters children novel to a movie trilogy.

They greatly expanded his role which I presume it was to give the first movie an antagonist.[sp]In the movie, the backstory battle scene in which Azog was supposed to be slain by Dain were changed to Thorin heavily wounding him instead and he was alive even till the end of the movie.[/sp]

I didn't make new year resolutions I just made goals I want to achieve. Explore an abandoned house/building, get a WCAR tattoo, make a friend on public transport and maintain that friendship, collect x amount of vinyls. Little shit like that, not necessarily hard to do just stuff to look forward to.
