Can anyone think of a time where a record label or something like iTunes has really inadvertently harmed its customers by doing something really douchey and having it fly back in their face? Or anything just be a complete failure because people would have none of whatever it was they were giving out?
I'm writing a paper on the idea that the most important thing of being a successful musician in this era is being known and letting your stuff be heard and not making it a pain in the ass to get the music.

That's an interesting read, but I'm not including those streaming mediums as venues of growth or revenue. I don't think anyone who listens to music on spotify or pandora really buys the music at any point. They may go to a concert or two, but I'd imagine that's it.
