the orange brushstrokes are a bit too long and could be shaped better. Thats all I can see wrong about it because I see clearly that its the eyelid

Did you just edit a photo in a text editor? Because thats pretty easy to do.

No, I did it in Audacity but its kind of the same thing. I know its not a lot of work, but sometimes you get interesting stuff

I did some more quick changes to this. Is it better? I've been staring at it for too long I can't tell if it's any good anymore. I think I'm bored of it, but I wanna be done.

I think it ended up pretty bad.
Also I tried to draw two dudes in under a minute:

sharpness vs blurriness is a massive part of composition that creates depth and focus. you need to utlilise it more because right now it's really difficult to tell what level things are at relative to the viewer and there's no compositional flow or focal point. the contrast and values are also mostly the same throughout
try drawing more attention to the building by sharpening it up, adding a bit more detail, and maybe increasing its value contrast (or decreasing value contrast in other distracting areas, such as the brightly lit tree and canopy above the building). stronger splashes of colour on the building could also help draw the eye - making the lantern much redder, for example, would help this
here's a mockup of the kind of thing i mean
wow it isn't too awful? i actually thought it looked good :(
It's got really nice value and color but the level of rendering is pretty inconsistent--like his arm on the left is kind of a natural path for the eye to take, but it's really roughly rendered. You have these really detailed/smooth armor plates and gauntlets with super messy flesh areas and cape. I think it'd be more effective if you worked out the focal points and "active areas" of the painting and then focused your rendering and detailing in those areas. Right now it looks a little random.

Square canvas and that symmetrical frame in the foreground are both killing it imo
There's lovely work IN there, but it's not very appealing presented as it is
eh, i tried

I love the silhouettes, but I feel that the sire let's it down because it doesn't match the stylization of the terrain.
Would somebody be interested in creating my next album cover? I really love many of these abstract drawings that you guys do and my own photoshop/gimp art isn't really that good looking (as you can see on my caynug self titled cover on my bandcamp page)
I like the design itself but all of those textured brushes and clusterfucked shapes around it cripple the piece
eh, i tried
Be careful with your values vs distance; those lighter formations in the middle with darker ones behind them don't make much sense. Also compositional rule of thumb is to pair your darkest values in the piece next to the lightest - you have the almost-black foremost layer on top of a very dark layer, so we almost lose all of that silhouetting down there.
Also that banding in the lower sky is very uniform and noticeable. Blending it out would be ideal
i love the collection of styles here, absolutely amazing work, you guys rock.

You seem to know how to use colors and Photoshop, what i would focus on now is perspective and anatomy, then move on to placing them in awesome settings :)

I agree with others that the 1:1/square aspect ratio isn't quite working for that style, impressive rendering and great layout. The foreground feels like you tried to make it look like a dense forest but didn't go the whole way; more variation and lines and vines that helps the perspective. :)
Ok I think I fixed most of the things people suggested. Looks better now. Should I fix anything else?

The background's fine, but the depth is really disorienting. You could vary the sizes of the dots depending on perspective and distance from the camera, it'd help define what the hell is going on with the bottom right.

If your talking about the orange-ish part it's because of that

Oh wow I didn't see the face
If those are specular highlights and glare on the front of the helmet, those should come in front of the face
I'd also add some sort of internal light to make the face clearer. I know it's unrealistic to have lights inside a space helmet (internal glare, etc) but you need to find a solution to make it clear that there's a visible face in there and that the visor isn't just an opaque surface

And yeah i will add the specular highlights it's a wip still, trying to experiment with different stuff.
It feels like the direction the helmet is facing and the direction the face is looking are two different directions, which is visually confusing.
Anyway, I have more clay:
The assignment was to make a teapot. It's supposed to be the Quetzalcoatl or some similar Mesoamerican feathered serpent coiled up around that calendar stone that had everyone in a fuss about the apocalypse last year.

You don't need to fill in all empty spaces, so don't worry too much about filling it
It might work better compositionally if you flipped the image though - maybe give it a go and see if it works

if you're working digitally that is - if you're working in traditional media then don't worry bout it.

yep it's all digital
