I would wear this.
Also I had a good time doing that medusa painting and I had some more orange-covered canvases so I've decided to make some more weird greek-mythology based things. Letting it dry for now and after that I need to make the siren not look as if she crawled out of an undersea crack den.

Nice stuff. I really envy your rendering. When I do work with pencils they tend to look rough. I just dont really have the patience to work so finely I guess

old drawing of mine, but you can see how everything is kind of rough

life study (india ink on A2) but the dudes above just raped me
I don't think you're using india ink effectively. You have to learn to layer with it, rather than just sketch. Sketchy watercolor or inks really do not look appealing, you have to be very effective and precise with how you apply them. Maybe it's the picture quality though.
Example of a india ink paint my friend did that I think uses the ink very effectively.

Don't know whether anyone liked them, but here's another one of my brother's poems: http://hellopoetry.com/poem/carnivale-find-it/
Feel free to read and comment, it'd be appreciated.

Which one of these do you think works better?
Shaded one without any doubt.
Marijuana Murder-Suicide
A bright orange glow; smoke rises and it floats
from hand to hand; across the street a uniformed man
he peeps game on the smoked out van
A paranoid child; strength of a man
knock on the window; panic ensues
a shot rings out;
dude what the fuck
why did you shoot that cop man
youre fucking retarded dude
bang.
bang.
bang.
Shaded one without any doubt.
with the smaller vertical lines it has more of a shade effect, I think its better

I prefer MenteR's piece tbh, better shapes and value structure.

Haha neither do I, it was a several-week assignment though and we had to render it out using tiny invisible circles or the teacher would eat our eyes

my paints are supposed to be turned in in a single class. that's why it looks "sketchy", i don't have time to nicely render it out.
plus your friends painting wasn't the best example. very confusing values and no apparent light source.

10 mins each, made with india ink on A2s

i know they're sketchy but i had to do each in 10 minutes.
[editline]25th March 2013[/editline]
we had more time to do the fruit one though. i think it was 15 or 20 minutes to do three studies on an A2.
The lighting is pretty obviously from above, idk what you're talking about. She did it in class too, probably not 10 minutes though. I was talking more about how you apply the ink. You seem to be very hectic and messy with your brushwork, when you should be making use of the values better and constraining yourself from brushing in all directions or going over one area too many times. The changes in values should be a bit more apparent and less liney and sketchy, which will help create better shapes. Dilute the ink more if it's too hard to work fast with it or it's too dry on your brush.
Oh to be at a level where someone could expect me to just do that in 10 minutes, let alone a week...
I prefer Menter's first pair of shoes to her spiky things, she's got really bad scale issues going on, don't think much of the composition either. I do love how she's rendered the back one, if the piece was just that I'd dig it.
That aside they're different styles, it's not really reasonable to compare them in my opinion.
You should try watering down some ink and washing in midtones with it though Menter, if you use the ink again. Would be interested to see what you came out with.

If I remember he had to paint those with a ghetto ass makeshift brush made out of icecream sticks.
Otherwise Mako pretty much said it. I find those shoes really interesting. They can look a bit rough but they have character. And made in 10 minutes, it looks pretty good
Hey guys, I don't know if I'm posting this in the right thread, but I've always wanted to move away from pencil drawings and into paint, charcoal, and most of all digital painting. If I were to buy a tablet for drawing/painting in PhotoShop, what tablet would you guys suggest?
did some another quick hotline miami thing to take my mind off client and uni work
