First of all, just because you live a town of 200 doesn't mean there are no jobs around. I live in a small town, population 360, and I used to do small jobs for people around town, delivering papers, fetching mail, and stuff like that. If you're 16 or older, apply at every place you can find, and I mean EVERY place. If you're in a rural prairie town, chances are, people want help on their farms as well, and they will pay you GOOD. Don't use 'I'm in a small town' stop you from finding a job. I thought the same thing as you until I applied everywhere, once you're 16 you can pretty much work anywhere you want in small towns like these.

Other then that, we are renting out three rooms, each one for 340~USD each, and also both me and mom got student loans which gives us a bit over 2000USD per month, hence why that amount seems quite ridiculous in my eyes.
