He didn't state how fast the car was going.. just that it was speeding. Some residential areas are 5 or 10 MPH while 15-20 would be speeding.. but wouldn't do too much damage to you if they had slammed on the brakes beforehand. Show us the bruises maybe for some proof? I believe you though.
Sure. I'll grab a disposable camera tomorrow and take a few shots, if you really want me to. I got bruises on my legs, feet and back. My feet start to ache whenever I try to walk.
By the way, turning down the money was selfish, they wanted to repay you for your endeavor, and you turned it down and now they can never truly repay you.
uh, no it's not. in fact, it's the polite thing to do. people should do good things for the sake of being good. it was a nice move on their part to offer the money, but saying no thanks is in no way selfish.

I'm sure they weren't willing to give it to you, they probably just wanted to sound overly grateful.
If you say so, but I still brought up much better points.
lol, no you didn't. saying no thanks to $1,000 for just doing the right thing is not selfish at all.
lol, no you didn't. saying no thanks to $1,000 for just doing the right thing is not selfish at all.
lol, look up a few posts you dolt.
lol, look up a few posts you dolt.
your points are stupid. a simple thank you is good enough for some people. they don't need to bow down to him for the rest of their life.
lol, look up a few posts you dolt.
Let people have their own freaking opinions
your points are stupid. a simple thank you is good enough for some people. they don't need to bow down to him for the rest of their life.
the fuck are you talking about? are you even bothering to look up to my posts before that? [editline]10:52AM[/editline]
Let people have their own freaking opinions
So it isn't selfish to kill yourself for a cat?
So it isn't selfish to kill yourself for a cat?
It is the opposite. Risking your life for something else is not selfish.
So it isn't selfish to kill yourself for a cat?
some people care about other living things and don't want to get crushed by a two ton vehicle.
It is the opposite.
So the driver who murdered a human, the family of the cat, the family of the dead human, and his friends are going to be happy that he saved a cat??
I love you.
So the driver who murdered a human, the family of the cat, the family of the dead human, and his friends are going to be happy that he saved a cat??
now you're just grasping for straws stop blowing it out of proportion with your hypotheticals
some people care about other living things and don't want to get crushed by a two ton vehicle.
I can definitely see why the OP did it, it was a situational decision, but it wasn't a logical one. [editline]10:57AM[/editline]
now you're just grasping for straws stop blowing it out of proportion with your hypotheticals
How could you possibly see dying for a cat being okay?
Gummylamb... What would you call an non-selfish act?
How could you possibly see dying for a cat being okay?
he didn't die and he has more balls than you apparently since you'd rather just sit back and think about your own well being.
Gummylamb... What would you call an non-selfish act?
Something that doesn't involve ruining a driver's life, a family, and the savior's life. [editline]11:00AM[/editline]
he didn't die and he has more balls than you apparently since you'd rather just sit back and think about your own well being.
Sorry that I care more about my family and friends, and the car driver than the OP. Oh and I'm sorry I find myself worth more than a cat.
Something that doesn't involve ruining a driver's life, a family, and the savior's life.
yet you call denying an old couple's hard earned money selfish? lol
I would call it a non-logical deed but not a selfish one..
yet you call denying an old couple's hard earned money selfish? lol
Why are you so dense? That was my weakest point in my arguments, stop bringing it up as if that's the flagship point. Stop nitpicking, and start thinking rationally.
Sorry that I care more about my family and friends, and the car driver than the OP. Oh and I'm sorry I find myself worth more than a cat.
you are a terrible person [editline]02:03PM[/editline]
Why are you so dense? That was my weakest point in my arguments, stop bringing it up as if that's the flagship point. Stop nitpicking, and start thinking rationally.
you lost any credibility when you said denying their money was selfish yet said standing back and watching a cat die is NOT selfish.
I would call it a non-logical deed but not a selfish one..
You have to think, he risked his life for a cat, right? Nice and all, but his death would ruin the car driver's life, because of the guilt, his family's life, because of the loss of a child, and his friends with the loss of a friend. I understand it was a nice decision, but it WAS selfish, he did it because he thought the cat had the same right to life as us humans, but he didn't think it through, he didn't think of the repercussions (and he couldn't, it isn't his fault, what I'm saying is that on reflection it is a selfish thing to do)
Or you might as well try to spare it the pain from being hit by the fucking car by taking a risk once in a while.
I'm sorry. Let's do some math. Assuming the cat was adopted from the pound, it is worth 120 dollars on average, counting adoption fees and medical procedures. This cat has no ability to help anyone or do anything other than be an object of emotional attachment. I, on the other hand, am worth well over 18,000 dollars. My parents put money and time and effort into raising me, and money is not all. In my head I am carrying a high school and going on a college degree education, to be a forensic psychologist. Assuming I go into the police side of forensic psychology and not the theoretical/teaching side, I will be helping put killers behind bars, potentially saving dozens of lives. Which is worth more, you tell me? I personally choose myself. The owner may be scarred for a while, but they can replace the cat. I cannot replace me. It is only heroism when the odds are for your survival, otherwise it is stupidity and lack of self preservation skills. Stepping in front of the car risks both yours and the cat's life. If you died trying to save it, the odds are the cat would have died too. Your life would be totally wasted for nothing. I have intervened in fights before, things that probably saved several peoples' health at the very least. These were situations where my odds of losing my life were still there, but significantly lowered. Also, what I was risking my life for was a human being, not a domesticated animal.
you are a terrible person [editline]02:03PM[/editline] you lost any credibility when you said denying their money was selfish yet said standing back and watching a cat die is NOT selfish.
I'm a terrible person...because why? Oh yeah, because I'm definitely not worth more than a cat.
It was very nice that you saved the cat <3 but seriously $1000 dollars, you should of took it, the owners wouldn't of offered you the money if they didn't feel like you earnt it.
he didn't die and he has more balls than you apparently since you'd rather just sit back and think about your own well being.
Humans are worth more than cats, sorry. No matter what sentimental Disney outlook on life you choose you can't deny that a living human is worth more than a living cat.
You know...one of my lungs is worth more than a cat, at least my lung can be transplanted into someone to save its life.
I'm a terrible person...because why? Oh yeah, because I'm definitely not worth more than a cat.
putting a value on life and refusing to look beyond yourself to help another person out
Why are you so dense? That was my weakest point in my arguments, stop bringing it up as if that's the flagship point. Stop nitpicking, and start thinking rationally.
You are asking someone to think rationally in an FP thread. You are a Gold, you should know better than that.
