He thought that the beam (brown) is supposed to be completely vertical instead of slanted.
Rusty, you should try doing something original yourself, rather than quibberling over whether it looks like a nano suit. [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] you can rate dumb Rusty but you only have to look and compare to see that it isn't much like a nano suit. Who cares if they are similar, artists use references themselves all the time

[editline]5th May 2011[/editline] and 'do not copy shit 1:1' is constructive criticism in my opinion

[editline]5th May 2011[/editline] and 'do not copy shit 1:1' is constructive criticism in my opinion
Pointing out they look similar is not really constructive. They are pretty different if you look up close. I was just pointing out to rusty that it doesn't really matter if it does.
I really don't think chains' armour looks all that similar to the nanosuit. I mean the pose is the same, and theres like a spinal cord kinda thing going on. That's about it. I'm genuinely looking at both pictures right now trying to find more similarities and there isn't any. I think chains' armour looks even cooler than the nanosuit, yo.
exactly. Even if chains did attempt to copy the nano suit what's wrong with that?
It was constructive in the way that he shouldn't rip off other designs. the point of concept art is to come up with new designs, not just slightly altered ones
but look they are quite different....
do you guys know anything about concept art or do you just judge from how cool it looks
Pointing out they look similar is not really constructive. They are pretty different if you look up close. I was just pointing out to rusty that it doesn't really matter if it does.
pointing out they look similar is constructive it's saying hey, your design is incredibly similar to an already existing one. i think you would do better to make it more unique and stray away from this current path [editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
exactly. Even if chains did attempt to copy the nano suit what's wrong with that?
so now ur saying whats wrong with copying other peoples designs? [editline]6th May 2011[/editline] why are u blindly defending chains, hes proven time and time again he doesn't deserve your defending, and his ego is always too big to ever admit any fault and he will always try to explain it away because he thinks he's smarter than everybody did u miss his episode in the off topic chat? he then even had the galls to blame it on his diabetes thats fucking low. when people tell me something is wrong with my stuff i take it on board and i usually change it and keep working on it to make it better just like snake
Well looking back he never said it was concept art. Concept art is meant to display the mood and feel of what the artist is imagining not always the details. I'm just saying that it looks cool and although similar its not a rip off of the nano suit, stop getting ur dicks out about it :v:
how hard is it to say "you know what, you're right! i'd better alter it, thanks for the cc"
Yes Rusty, chains has been acting a sensitive douchebag recently but I think you are targeting him in particular to piss him off.
push people to their limit > see their true colours shine
Yeah, well it was only a 15 min doodle so...
*15 minute trace If you're going to do that, at least pic an image that isn't on the first page of any google image search that's even remotely weapon or military related.
Also greeneyes I have a feeling you don't really know what conceptart is all about.
is it like one of those rorschach tests or something [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] by the way, would someone please make this fine creeper a sombrero and groucho glasses? thanks http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4861882/autismcraft/creeper1080wp.jpg
No.
but look they are quite different....
Uh, no actually. There are differences but it actually just looks like a rehashed design. Metal pads are higher, muscle ribs go into the opposite direction, spinal ribs stick out more, gear moved up to the belt. I'm not saying it's on purpose, don't get me wrong.
ALSO, where the nanosuit guy has his side packs on his thighs, chains' has them too, but futher down and overlapping his knees that feels like change for the sake of change, seems like it would hinder leg movement a lot more
I didn't exacly guess on the perspective
lens distortion
Also greeneyes I have a feeling you don't really know what conceptart is all about.
This is from one of the best concept artists on DA he clearly states concept artists need to capture the atmosphere not the character detail on the right hand text

Also wtf, you misquoted him
I wont get into character design and posing and stuff, simply because I'm not a character designer, my job is to create the correct atmosphere, what type of lightning a scene should have, what type of surroundings it should have etc.

Also wtf, you misquoted him
he says, He's not a character designer, but a concept artist, you misquoted.

[editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
You mean the light gray lines on his thighs? because I forgot to mark those
yeah
He's a proper concept artist not a DAer, just has some of his work there. [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] http://andreewallin.com/portfolio
This is from one of the best concept artists on DA he clearly states concept artists need to capture the atmosphere not the character detail on the right hand text
I'm not talking about drawing it, the drawing techique has NOTHING to do with it. I'm talking about it's purpose. What is concept art used for and what rules are there to think of when ur designing something Also this is the point I'm trying to make It's the same thing. same design
just cos he uses DA doesn't mean you should disregard what he says. You have a DA account too, so do most of us.
you really need to stop talking
just cos he uses DA doesn't mean you should disregard what he says. You have a DA account too, so do most of us.
Um, so you're totally going to ignore the fact that you misquoted him? Here, I'll post the quote from the image you gave again:
I wont get into character design and posing and stuff, simply because I'm not a character designer, my job is to create the correct atmosphere, what type of lightning a scene should have, what type of surroundings it should have etc.
