Read his work again and tell me it's you that hasn't misquoted....
If we're looking at it from a concept art perspective then yes I would say it's far too similar. That said, I think you could take almost any sci-fi space-marine armour and point out similarities. All I'm saying is, while it is quite similar (too similar), you guys are making it out like they're exactly the same design when they're clearly not.
Give up already, Greeneyes. Chain's design looks way too much like the Crysis nanosuit and Detlef's right- it's all about silhouette.
Read his work again and tell me it's you that hasn't misquoted....
you're wrong
I did. That's exactly what that image says. people who designs characters are also concept artists, whats he getting at [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] lots of designers does both
I did. That's exactly what that image says. [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/KhamUH.png[/img_thumb]

I wont get into character design and posing and stuff, simply because I'm not a character designer, my job is to create the correct atmosphere, what type of lightning a scene should have, what type of surroundings it should have etc.
[editline]5th May 2011[/editline] he clearly says he's a concept artist. you missed that out
No one denied that wtf
What? I said he misquoted and he disagreed.
How do you capture atmosphere and plan surroundings and lighting when you're only drawing a character/power armor Either way, we're starting to argue semantics. The point is his design is too similar to the nanosuit.
What? I said he misquoted and he disagreed.
wat? The guy basically said his knowledge only applies to landscapes and scenery and NOT CHARACTERS because he DOESN'T DO THAT nobody ever said he wasn't a concept artist
the point is greeneyes doesn't know shit about concept art
How do you capture atmosphere and plan surroundings and lighting when you're only drawing a character/power armor Either way, we're starting to argue semantics. Look, this has gotten out of control, I didn't want to stretch this out and lose track completely. I'll just gonna clean this up: Yes in looks like the nano suit, No it's not a complete rip of, Chains is most definitely not a concept artist, I was not as much defending him as asking why people cared.
chains literally said he was a concept artist
Well what has he done concept art for? ---
wat? The guy basically said his knowledge only applies to landscapes and scenery and NOT CHARACTERS because he DOESN'T DO THAT nobody ever said he wasn't a concept artist
what i said is getting lost. I only pointed out that his quote was missing the bit where the artist said he was a concept artist.
this is really tipping the scale in favor of just insulting chains, not giving advice you guys did prove a point but proving it once again and once again is just not neccessary even if I agree
Well what has he done concept art for? --- what i said is getting lost. I only pointed out that his quote was missing the bit where the artist said he was a concept artist.
how should i know? i'm only stating what he said.
we have not been insulting chains in any way [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] Rusty may have a little, but that doesn't count
not really it's just that without any actual comment from chains himself a good 30 posts have been about the topic of chains being wrong and "not a concept artist"
this is really tipping the scale in favor of just insulting chains, not giving advice you guys did prove a point but proving it once again and once again is just not neccessary even if I agree
The restating of points wouldn't have happened if Greeneyes didn't disagree. That's the basic way an argument works. Also, I'm not trying to insult chains, I was just saying what I believe is true.
not really it's just that without any actual comment from chains himself a good 30 posts have been about the topic of chains being wrong and "not a concept artist"

The restating of points wouldn't have happened if Greeneyes didn't disagree.
well yeah chains is a bad concept designer if he rips off other designs, that's like the biggest no-no in the industry. But this should go without saying
I don't disagree with the fact that it does resemble the nanosuit but what guidelines say that you can not make a concept art of something based off the nanosuit for lack of a better comparison that's like telling a still life artist to stop painting boring scenes, every other work needs to be an individual work of art uninspired by anything you could make the comparison with music or anything art is inspiration and I don't know why it's neccessarily a bad thing that he builds off of the nanosuit concept, even not consciously [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] and I don't mean professional concept art but you know HOBBY concept art
concept art is not ART. Don't compare them [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] they have completely different purposes
what's the difference?
goddammit guys read up on the subject, this is just stupid
I always assumed concept art was just a subsection of art?
not at all. It's a subsection of DESIGN
lol this is gay [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] I mean thanks for the info, just these last few pages have been a cluster fuck
I still think it's harsh to criticize him so fast when all he posted was a rough skech with some shoulderplates and a spine thing and you all instantly jump to the conclusion that he is copying off the nanosuit in case you guys did not notice the nanosuit silhouette is basically a muscly man what chains posted was two shoulderpads on a guess what A MUSCLY MAN oh god what a thrill.
This covers alot about doing concepts. please watch greeneyes since it's painfull to watch you talk about a subject you know absolutely nothing about
