This covers alot about doing concepts. please watch greeneyes since it's painfull to watch you talk about a subject you know absolutely nothing about
Thanks, although I never really said I knew much about it, just a single sentence of what I though it was about.
You have showed your lack of knowledge about it without saying the exact words
Thanks for the link that was pretty awesome and educational. I never claimed to know much about concept art but if that is what you are aiming to do chains you do have to make sure your work is original. Looking back this all started because I was just making a joke at Rust not doing much original work himself but it might have been taken seriously :v:
goddammit why can't you just admit that you fucked up and got everything wrong rather than just defending and shrugging it off
ooohhhhh boy i was so looking forwards to viewing 50 new posts of art
after you
heheheehehhehehehhe
heheHE
ok, sorry i was wrong, I didn't know chains was doing concept art so didn't get why people were worried that it was similar. I'm sorry for defending him. I'm sorry for not know much about concept art. I'm sorry I fucked up and got everything wrong.

the composition is kinda funky... i can't tell if that rock shape thing is behind the creature or part of it or what also makes it hard to make out the silhouette and distinguish the creature as the subject of the picture, especially where the similarly coloured skull is concerned
Changed the Background. I like it now alot better.
What's more important? Oh the ocean. Wouldn't have guessed if it wasn't for the picture name. [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] OH I SEE IT NOWfuck
Bottom white text is a bitch to read also i'd suggest some more space around the text, especially the OCEAN, now it's just crammed against the edges.
Couldn't see it at first because of the size :v:
What's with all the drama? What happened to this thread? I blame detlef :v:
I'm sorry, it's all my fault

wip Any tips on drawing a blurry background? im guessing i shouldnt use Blur tool since that would be like quite simple ref: http://th00.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2010/287/2/7/multiply_by_belgianfries-d2ncnfe.jpg
Soft brushes, lots of them.
Soft brushes, lots of them.
There is more to it than soft brushes. And after what I've heard the blur tool is actually quite useful. Make slight details for the background and then go over it with the blur tool, blend it in a bit with hard and/or soft brushes to make it look nice and not just like a bunch of blur. There is also that technique where you just draw circles with opacity/pressure control.
yeah but they are really really really similar so similar that it looks like it came right from crytek from their concept art

It was constructive in the way that he shouldn't rip off other designs. the point of concept art is to come up with new designs, not just slightly altered ones
But it doesn't look like the nanosuit. It only has some resemblances, BECAUSE IT'S A GODDAMN SUIT AND IT NEEDS TO GO WITH YOUR BODY SHAPE NOT JUST THROW SHIT ON IT TO LOOK COOL.
I'm not talking about drawing it, the drawing techique has NOTHING to do with it. I'm talking about it's purpose. What is concept art used for and what rules are there to think of when ur designing something Also this is the point I'm trying to make [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/7SVEL.png[/img_thumb] It's the same thing. same design
I can agree with this silhouette part. HOWEVER. It is a suit, not a character. A character should be easily distinguished by it's silhouette. A suit can in some cases be simply tucked right into the characters skin causing no silhouette at all. A suit needs a specific character to be applied to in order to have a silhouette being a valid argument for it, because they need to work together as a team. Right now he has stereotypical muscle man getting some suit slapped on him so it will look very similar unless you make some exaggerated suit with tons of shit popping out of the person, meaning it will be a very bad suit to wear unless you are superman. AND the suit is actually quite different, even in the silhouette. It's not super-distinguishable, but look at my above argument, they are both put on the same body type which WILL DOMINATE THE SILHOUETTE. Looking it from the thumb I can see a VERY CLEAR difference between the suits actually.
what's the difference?
Quite the big one. One draws things for a project that needs to be practical, unique and fit in and/or create the style for the project. The other makes stuff out of own entertainment or in order to spread a message or invoke emotions.
dgg don't you get it, everything military-ish and combat efficient looks the same. I get the same thing about drawing operators from my art teacher at school
dgg don't you get it, everything military-ish and combat efficient looks the same. I get the same thing about drawing operators from my art teacher at school
It has a pretty good reason for it too. I mean, there is very specific reasons why you don't see army men running around with pink pants with spikes and chains on them, American-flag patterned metal suits with mechanical arms and grenade holders and milk dispensers and a helmet that looks like Satan crafted it himself. Things gotta be practical, detailless and able to blend in with the surroundings to attract as little attention as possible whilst still being an uniform able to show wheter or not you are an ally and act as protective clothing. Armor suits of any kind needs as little shit sticking out of them as possible unless they are made in the medieval ages and beyond or in a fantasy environment. You can still make it unique, sure, but unique for the sake of unique? FUCK NO. Unique for the sake of silhouette? AHAHAHAHHAHAHA.
My point exactly.
