Oh and Detlef. This is one way to paint skin: Skintone Tut - longest ever - by =cypherx
Oh wow- I don't like that art style
Oh wow- I don't like that art style
i agree with this but i'm still interested to try out the use of scattering on brushes - that hadn't occurred to me
Oh wow- I don't like that art style
A technique does not equal to artstyle.
his technique has created a style though... right? or something i'm sure you can apply parts of his technique, like the scattering, and use it to develop your own style, but it's hard to get away from the fact that he's teaching about techniques that achieve his own artstyle, so there's obviously going to be some influence there

She has developed the technique whilst working on her own style. It is nevertheless a technique and a technique can be used in different ways and as you said, be altered to fit in with ones own style. If this is not a good base for skin then I don't know: Alter it to your own style and you got some nice skin, add some pores as well since she goes for pwetty-super-model style.
A technique does not equal to artstyle.
well the technique explained did lead to the artstyle.
hey dats wat i said :( [editline]6th May 2011[/editline] only i way over elaborated as per usual
yeah sorry I didnt refresh
well the techique explained did lead to the artstyle.
Not really. The technique explained is applied by the artist which already has her own style, thus obviously it will end up in that specific style. If you down-right copy every point of the tutorial, then obviously you will end up with the exact same result. But that's not how tutorials are meant to be used.
well the technique explained did lead to the artstyle.
She's not the borg, you can try it out and still retain your style :v:
If this is not a good base for skin then I don't know: [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655193/Skin.jpg[/img_thumb]
it's not. its very stylized [editline]7th May 2011[/editline] not just her drawings too - the skin is very stylized also
it's not. its very stylized [editline]7th May 2011[/editline] not just her drawings too - the skin is very stylized also
Yes, it's very soft highlighted skin. Which again is easily fixed by altering the technique to have less highlights and adding pores.
or learning to draw real skin rather than learning from a stylized tutorial?
or learning to draw real skin rather than learning from a stylized tutorial?
Or maybe notice that she IS drawing real skin but is over-exposing it and not adding in the details. Still I just posted a tutorial of ONE WAY to draw skin. I never said it was the only way.
I honestly think there are better tutorials than that somewhere
I honestly think there are better tutorials than that somewhere
I never implied it wasn't. You were the one asking for help earlier, I gave you some. Why don't you just look up those good tutorials for yourself?
awwwww here goes
Here, random stuff from the first page on DA. http://www.deviantart.com/download/23525496/TUTORIAL_SKIN_PAINTING.JPG http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs51/f/2009/333/c/5/SKIN__a_chart___SUPPLEMENT_IMG_by_navate.jpg http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/076/a/8/Skin_Tut_by_shesta713.jpg http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/024/e/6/e6004960b8dfa03b9d89ace836f5aa9e.png http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs18/f/2007/217/e/9/__Painting_Skin_Textures___by_BikerScout.jpg There is no such thing as the perfect tutorial. Everyone draws differently. If you can't learn to look at the parts that works and remove the parts that doesn't work for you and your style then you're fairly THICK HEADED. There is no reason to hang yourself up in the small details of a tutorial, because a tutorial is supposed to aid you, not give you the goddamn solution. I mean, have you seen all those videos and images of people blatantly following tutorials and posting them claiming them as their own? Have they learned anything? Not one bit. Who learns? Those that takes the technique further and developes it into something that works for them. They don't stop up and say "Hey, this shit doesn't look 100% like I want it to, I'll disregard this tutorial because it's SHIT".
silly people if we could draw real skin burn victims all over the world would love us
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/076/a/8/Skin_Tut_by_shesta713.jpg
this one is so odd
Also when you can bring forth details by adjusting the values then I think that implies you're doing something right. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655193/Skin.jpg[/img_thumb]
http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs18/f/2007/217/e/9/__Painting_Skin_Textures___by_BikerScout.jpg the window arrangement idea here is really cool - i'll use that in the future but using soft brushes and dodging and burning for skin? i haven't done that since my first ever digital piece... i'm never going back
silly people if we could draw real skin burn victims all over the world would love us
guess what
but using soft brushes and dodging and burning for skin? i haven't done that since my first ever digital piece... i'm never going back
Dodge and burn should never ever be used.
guess what
I am amused by the video being flipped. Really nice invention though. Hopefully no side-effects that magically happens 50 years later.
I am amused by the video being flipped. Really nice invention though. Hopefully no side-effects that magically happens 50 years later.
It's the future by then, burn victims won't need skin
Nope. If you placed those two in the same pose I would see a very clear difference between them. You're not very good at this game.
It's hard to be good at a game when the second player is dense. I'm obviously not talking about you. The whole reason people thought Chains was copying Crytek was because of the similar pose.
It's hard to be good at a game when the second player is dense. I'm obviously not talking about you. The whole reason people thought Chains was copying Crytek was because of the similar pose.
Final warning for people to drop that [editline]7th May 2011[/editline] there will be bans
the composition is kinda funky... i can't tell if that rock shape thing is behind the creature or part of it or what also makes it hard to make out the silhouette and distinguish the creature as the subject of the picture, especially where the similarly coloured skull is concerned
I'm currently stuck with paint.net and gimp (which i'm not that familiar with), So i'm not sure what improvements can be done easily without repainting the character, Don't mind the background i just threw it there.
guess what
"This is Matt Uram, state police officer from Pennsylvania, he's the first to be treated with the gun" Every time I watch some documentary on Discovery channel or National Geographic I notice they're often filled with puns. I find it amusing.
