The silhouette of Ripley holding a girl or whatever is pretty hard to make out unless you've seen the original poster already.
I thought he wasn't done with it but it seems to be his final draft.
The silhouette of Ripley holding a girl or whatever is pretty hard to make out unless you've seen the original poster already.
i feel that it's pretty easy to see two sets of hair and those are the only two people around when they stumble on the alien hive these kinds of posters are really more for people who've already seen and like the movie
Rusty you are missing something very very important from that poster. An Alien (a clear one anyway) Seriously i'd get rid of the mech and have the alien queen looking over them, it's a much more menacing and memorable silhouette.
i have no idea but i feel like adding in the queen alien takes all the threat away from the mech, as the mech is standing over the queen too and the alien's menacing-ness takes away the mech's daunting pose [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1482927/Posters/aliens.png[/img_thumb] idk
Try using a colour other than beige for the background.
may i make a suggestion it's against the style but whateva it's seemed like a broken dick coming out of a hairy ball
Yeah the bit of the gun sticking out of the silhouette looks really confusing. And I dunno if it's just my screen but the alien queen in the background is barely visible at all, I wouldn't have seen it unless you'd said.
Finally, as it's the end of the school year I get to post content.

Trying to get back into using my graphics tablet. Click here for the full size one, you get a better idea of the texture and brush stroked on this one http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/baron_of_bean_dip/Heavy.jpg

Something I did really quick last night, taking a break from studying and work.
I shit you not, every time I post (I frequent the creative photography thread) I get the end of the fucking page >:/
what ref did you use, if you used one?
I used loads really, mainly to figure out how the gun is actually put together. It's not traced from one though. Also, I forgot his bullet strap.
well that's pretty darn cool then, the only thing that concerns me is the connection of his belly and belt on his right. Also, I've always wondered why you have the same bird as Cuel on your avatar, 'cept not animated
scotchair what program do you use to paint in? I quite like the "painted on canvas" look that picture has.

I've seen that guy around, but I'm pretty sure I've had this avatar waaaaaay before him. I never got around to getting the .gif working properly haha. Barnhouse, I used photoshop. Use the dry media brushed (they're a default brush set). Then I went over it with other brushes.

for the gif to work you need it fp-compatible, <102.4kb and 80*80. If any conversion is done by fp, you'll lose animation and transparency
I just had an awesome idea to start working on but I can't find my tablet pen...
I just had an awesome idea to start working on but I can't find my tablet pen...
Humor me and use a pencil. I will love you forever.
I have to confess though, I did trace the shape of the cat with a real image of a cat, it was just to show my brother what you can do in SAI.
the heavy lineart crashes with the paint style.
eh theres not much i can do im sure most people who have seen the movie are willing to overlook the fact that the mech's silhouette looks like optimus prime
You could try having side views of an alien and the mech staring each other down in the background, sort of like the AVP poster. Having the mech in a side profile will get rid of the optimus prime and having it facing towards an alien will also get rid of the evil intent it seems to create.
i have no idea but i feel like adding in the queen alien takes all the threat away from the mech, as the mech is standing over the queen too and the alien's menacing-ness takes away the mech's daunting pose [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1482927/Posters/aliens.png[/img_thumb] idk
Why don't you redo the pose, and exchange authenticity for not looking like some mutated penis monster? Perhaps have the kid standing next to her and just holding hands or something like that? Would be a lot easier to tell what it is if you did.
problem with that is that it's traced from another poster, so that would be impossible without actually having to draw the silhouettes
