I think you should focus on the basics of anatomy and figure drawing before you even start with the clothes or shading.

Okay.
His helmet is too high up also, the ejection could be drawn a bit differently, to show some speed of the shell. But yeah, what lexus04 said. It is better than the one you posted yesterday though.
Ah. I wish I can scan the ref. Because I just drew what I saw, but I might be hella wrong. Is there any tips for showing motion? Like lines or something?
back slash, I really recommend doing some basic anatomy studies. especially head anatomy. Stop drawing soldiers and try to get the basics down and you will progress much faster
He can't vote? 18 to join the military, 18 to vote.
I tried really hard on this I really did. :saddowns: I found this picture in my leatherneck magazine. I embellished a bit [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14329594/WHAT%20DO%20ROSSMUMresize.jpeg[/img_thumb] [editline]13th May 2011[/editline] I fucked up on the M1
That's actually an M-16A1, the M1 refers to the semi-automatic rifle series used during the Second World War. They were made out of wood and by Vietnam, the only ones using them were the South Vietnamese. Also, C&C on this drawing. It's in the same vein as the one I did of the soldiers standing at port arms during sunset.

yeah why don't you study some anatomy too?
The M1 is the name of the helmet also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Helmet
yeah why don't you study some anatomy too?
ahh the universal advice :allears:
ahh the universal advice :allears:
But it helps a ton. once you fully understand the human body (and perspective) you can draw them in any pose you want. the best artists has done tons of studies and it might not sound so fun to everyone but once u master it you'll learn to love it.

i'm going to take a human anatomy class in school next year, hopefully it will help me draw people better. i can't draw faces for shit.
I like the idea of not being trained Makes me feel proud :smug:
I like the idea of not being trained Makes me feel proud :smug:
I've never had a serious art class where I was actually taught anatomy. 90% of what I draw I found out by myself.
I've never had a serious art class where I was actually taught anatomy. 90% of what I draw I found out by myself.
I think we can see how that turned out (so far)
Sure.
just saying you need study is all
I am :( BUt I'm also studying for my A++ certification at the same time.

Drew it almost exactly from ref
Alright so I tried getting back into digi painting and I must say it's pretty damn fun. I tried drawing the water and glass in the ref, but it turned out really shitty so I scrapped it. C&C please (holy balls I just realized how un-round the tomato is)
Nobody ever gives me criticism. :smith:

Other than that, lighting is good, but shading is as jigglish as the tomato. the drop shadow also looks like 2 sec Gaussian-blurred crap... I like the top right quarter of the image, the other three fourth is crap :( [editline]13th May 2011[/editline] This would have been perfect:
Alright, thanks for the criticism. Yeah the shadow was 2 second Gaussian blur crap; would you think practice would get rid of the other problems or is there something obvious that I need to work on?
