Are there any good resources for beginning to draw stuff? Mainly interested in people and creatures, but I could really do with general resources too.

FP artists, I really need your help. I've got a deadline on this Jedi girl for tomorrow and I know she looks horribly off, but I'm too tired to point out what exactly is wrong.

Plz halp :(

her face is weird (she has a gigantic nose) and asymmetrical
her head is really deformed and a bit on the tiny side
she has only 4 fingers on each hand
she floats (that's probably intentional)

This aint rocket science. To get better you have to do some anatomy studies and photostudies and all that crap, theres no skipping it.

Look up books on human anatomy, draw from real life and cut all the fantasy crap for now.

we have told u hundreds of times, still you complain about not being able to learn. But you're not really trying.

So just, practice anatomy for now cuz that is something that is holding you back right now.

just a simple sketch of the shape or try to draw an exact copy along with colours?

Thanks, before I uploaded her I had already resized her head a couple of times. - I can see the nose thing now that you mention it. As for the 5th finger, it's outstretched and hidden behind the saber handle. And yeah, she's supposed to float which was part of the commissioner's wishes. :x

I think I put her together wrong though. It feels like her limbs don't fit together overall, if you know what I mean? I just can't put my finger on it, really.

This is a super basic sketch - You don't need pouches, shadows, knives and shit covering up your drawing. Just start with this.

Well I found some tutorial on the internet on how to draw faces (like with the sphere, then you have the chin bit) then I just went from there and used pictures of torsos on the internet to do this. I have no knowledge of anatomy and this is my first real non-stickman drawing, so I'm pretty pleased with it.

The point is for you to understand how the body looks and works. work on parts of the body individual sometimes too.
what the sketches looks like is up to you. but try to learn and get it as accurate as possible without too many details.

But yeah, posemaniacs dude. It might not feel like it's helping, but I'm pretty sure I've improved my judgement and I've only done a few pages of half-finished sketchy figures.

I think it's probably best to do as they advised to Xephio and only worry about details after you practise poses and stuff. Not that I am one to talk I keep all my drawings offline due to not being pleased with them yet (I tend to read the advise people here give to others and try to apply it to myself. I lurk this topic pretty much all the time.)

It's a lot better than a lot of first drawings I've seen so just keep at it. :h:
