"And food was brunt"?
it's a camping trip, we had to cook our own food and it was assessed. we had two three meter flames
[editline]25th April 2011[/editline]

The black triangle on the neck, what is that? Your brush strokes are too small in general, makes it look really sketchy and rough, make bigger strokes with the values that you want, not small ones with opaque brushes. This subject has been talked the lenght in the few previous threads.
And try to have more than one layer of background. Right now it's extreme foreground on top of extreme background.

Then do life drawing. And if you can't look at a pair of tits while you draw them, there's no future for you in character drawing.
In unrelated note, just spent like an hour doing gesture drawing.

Looks like the lovechild of the Android dude and Luigi.
Short brush strokes make you look un confident with your work and it also makes it look scruffy and unprofessional, the longer your strokes the better your drawing will look
Looks like the lovechild of the Android dude and Luigi.
oh wow, yes it does
thanks PLing. trying not to draw details with small brushes while still trying to get the shape and values right is still hard for me somehow.

the lighting in the background doesn't agree with that on the character.
and the contrast/value is poor.

The background and the character seem to have two opposite light sources
So I been drawing girls. No refs used.

Best tutorial I could find out about how to start your painting. Do the background in loose strokes like that, then the character on a new layer. Then just keep refining them.

Anyone here has any advice before I continue on this?

I'd rather you help the MSpaint forum not die :frown:
Edit:
hnng, I don't even want to media tag it: http://i.cubeupload.com/nQLvCp.png
I am going to back to pencil and paper by the way, I'm not good with CS5

Wouldn't fit the cartoony style IMO
Wouldn't fit the cartoony style IMO
It will have some basic shading but no highlights.
Based it on this image: link
Probably going to keep the black outlines and refining them to look smooth and make it thicker at some places.
Will also post in MS Paint section to help it not die then.

Thanks :buddy:
Ever since Jewdozer, Gregah and Nyaa left the forum is on its way to obscurity. There are some threads that still keep the forum going though (like the madness interactive)
I don't see why not since you can't really cheat using oil paint. :v:

In that case I'm in I guess, my painting of myself should be done by tomorrow night.
I don't draw much or regularly, nor can I draw anything without reference.

I think this is the best place to question this:
Is there an easy way to get a worn metal look on objects? Like this:

Much appreciated.
Two colors and sandpaper
