okay the construction lines are going well but i have a question, what if i dont have refs for something i want to sketch (i.e. something not based in reality)
Photomanipulation and typography I guess
I really need to learn techniques
sorry I was sleeping, techniques you say?
Well there's this one that you probably already know about
And there's this one
but what I do for tutorials is I go to stumble upon, I change my preferences to what I want (in this case graphic design and photoshop) and then I keep stumbling, I have found some very good tutorials like that, give me a minute to dig them up
A little traditional sketch (still not done, gotta fill that blank space) inspired by Blockhead's The Music Scene:

Not bad, i've seen something similar done with photo manipulation in photoshop. As a sketch this is pretty cool.
I don't know about the shading but I can tell you it looks like he's wanking off two invisible dicks.
Sorry lol
Oh god wow. Your right I feel dirty for drawing that now.
quick question: in photoshop do any of you use channels? I know what they do but they don't seem all that useful
They are good for complex/precision photo alterations, or for things like selecting hair if you don't have cs5 or whatever. For digital art, I don't see why you would use them.
Edit: Hello new page, here's the first time I used charcoal (pretty much didn't make good use of it at all)

My first serious try at pixelart. Is it any good?
I like how the shading works, but pencil doesn't really suit it.
The proportions seem a little wrong, it looks a little weird.
But other then that, I reckon you should bring it into photoshop or something and vector it
It's not pencil, it's charcoal, but I just did block shading because I didn't know what I should've been doing with it. Only used it for the sake of using it.
It probably looks wrong because the side teeth are misaligned to shit, but then it's an old drawing. Here's a more recent skull I did, which I posted here already I think

And thanks, but I reckon vector art looks pretty shit most of the time, not a fan of it

I thought I'd try using photoshop.
So this is my first photoshop drawing.
I know some of the proportions aren't right, but I'm pleased with the outcome anyway.
I like the hair
i don't, the hair just randomly changes color all over the place, and at the right side (for the viewer) the hair is much larger than the head
The top of her head is too big, and the values on the left of her face are too bright on some places, like the cheek and the eye
and the lower lip is too big

yeah but it looks pretty cool
but since we're picking at it her right cheek is weird, it needs to be more relaxed or the left one needs to be more tensed
it scares me

Study in progress... ._.

over here it doesn't have the same ''egoistic'' connotation if you sign even the simplest doodles
It's a good drawing. You guys just point out all the bad things.
It's called constructive criticism.
So the person can progress.
and it really isn't a particularly good drawing
Thanks for the cc. I'm happy with it, since it's my first photoshop thing. I'll try to keep what you said in mind.
About the signature: I signed it because I'm used to signing everything I don't make in MS Paint. Me and my brother sign like every sketch we have around the house. Here a signature just says I'm finished with the drawing and not planning on correcting it even if it's wrong as opposed to: Look this is what I made, I am Picasso.
yep if we only said good things she wouldn't get better at drawing

is ear has some weird shading but otherwise horry shit

The painting is nice, but for some reason he looks like one of those indian talk show hosts with the big hair. I think it is because the left eye (his right) is a bit crooked.
a well
I tried
