Or maybe I should quit forever :saddowns:

okay
why does people always feel the need to show their first attempt at something, most people should have the ability to see if their drawing is bad or not or needs some obvious work that they can do on their own without asking for help.
learn to see your own mistakes, it's gonna help you ALOT

My first tabby drawing wasn't that great either.

You should experiment with different types of brushes and strokes and all that crap.

A couple pieces of advice.
First off, as everyone says, practice some anatomy. Get a book on life drawing or take a class, and really try and understand what the eye looks like in 3D space, that'll make it a lot easier to render.
Second, use a thicker brush in photoshop and make sure the pen pressure setting is on. This will allow you to vary the thickness in you lines better and help you avoid that scratchy look. Also, draw less with your wrist and more with your arm, it'll help making curves so much easier.
Thirdly, don't give up! It may sound dumb, but seriously, nothing will help you more than drawing everyday. Even if your work is crap, keep trying to improve with every drawing you do. Even if it's something simple like rethinking how you do eyelids, every little improvement helps.
I used to draw eyes like crap.

But with lots of practice and dedicated study of anatomy I've improved greatly.
You'll get there dude, just keep on working.

Like she said, definitely lock yourself up in a room Lunik but remember to at least eat. :ohdear:

I interpret the sprite it very differently, I'll do a sketch of my own at some point maybe. Yours looks really intimidating, but in a more brutish sort of way. Pretty cool though, I like the reflections you have around the bottom edges of the eyes, they look REALLY good.

Sorry but I pretty much vomited out of the window (from my chair)
I'm going to have nightmares D:
Does seamstress'n count as creative work? I mean I did design it, well I sewed up a new shift boot for my FA5. My old one was torn to shreds over the years and I wasn't about to shell out over $100 for a new leather one so I made my own. It's a standard straight stitch with heavy duty black thread, black leather with doubled up medium duty red thread for the decorative stitching. The color red was achieved by mixing an red orange with a purpler red thread to achieve the perfect color match for my Rallye Red civic. I'm really proud of it and it's wonderful looking.

Uhm, thanks? I'll be sure to improve so you will never vomit again, don't you worry. It kinda makes me want to vomit now to be honest. I don't know what I was high on when I posted that

it's really wobbly around the sillouette and the different pieces aren't separated at all. they just mesh together. Again your lighting is really scribbly and you don't have any definition of material at all. It's clay.

Also this.
You guys should stop telling people to just "study anatomy". There are things you need to know before you "study anatomy". A lot of you need to drop the tablet, pick up a pencil and then go to town drawing from life. Perspective and proportion from real life will help prepare you for drawing humanoids. And after drawing from real life, and humanoids from reference, then just maybe you'll be able to draw people from your head.
Its a process.
[editline]5th June 2011[/editline]
Also learning values and the such in the traditional sense, will help prepare you for digital if that's what you want.
[editline]5th June 2011[/editline]
I've never used digital, but I damn well guarantee you if I did it wouldn't suck like that eye (no offense?). Mainly because of my strong pen and paper, and life perspective and proportion skills.

The perspective is really skewed. The way it is now makes it seem as if the right side has been smashed in.
Mr_Razzums made a really good point when he mentioned practicing from real life in traditional medium. It does a lot for your understanding of perspective.
A bit busy I know I was browsing through pictures I had taken of fire at the time, just random poster I made for the indy crew I'm part of. Made their website, logo, and all of the graphics they use too, www.norwindinteractive.com (Haven't put out any games yet though, hopefully by September that will change)

Hate to keep posting my oldish stuff, (this piece is from fall 2010) but until I either get a new scanner, or fix my old one, I'm stuck.
I keep seeing people say "go study anatomy" and all that hubbub. and I wanted to ask those who keep saying that what they think of this, as it was done, straight from my noggin, I've never actually studied human anatomy, only the occasional glance at a few anatomically correct artworks here and there, but nothing in-depth, or serious.
But yes, thoughts, criticism?

reaaally reaally messy. and quite poorly composed. i'd give a second thought to doing all those glowy swirls, they don't work at all when they're so all over the place.
everything is also very uneven

I love the elongated hand, it's awesome.
