Can't find any funny anime that doesn't evolve a bunch of schoolgirls running around. Tired of Shin chan.
Cromartie High School
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex is a great series.
I don't think so.
I really do like ghost in the shell, but the series is filled with bullshit episodes.
I would recommend watching the movies instead. They are the series without bullshit.
Solid State Society
The Laughing Man
Individual Eleven

How skeevy is that compared to most anime? Like, what would it take to evoke, in a normal person, the reaction that this would evoke in your average weaboo?
Not sure what you mean exactly, but that's typical weaboo food.
Soul Eater has quite a few foolery moments, but either way I found it a quite enjoyable series.
(The manga is significantly better though)
Darker than Black
Black Lagoon
Cowboy Bebop
Last Exile
Hellsing Ultimate
The only ones I know of would be Cromartie Highschool and Excel Saga, they're the only two I'd recommend as well.
Just finished Death Note and absolutely loved it, it changed my perception of anime as i too hate the asinine emotions and expressions that are typical of a lot of anime.
There was this one anime I actually really liked, I only watched one episode, but there was two little boys wandering around what seemed to be a wasteland. And some guy trapped them in a building and he could move really fast or something? and they like got past him somehow and ran away, while he was still waiting for them to come out. Someone please help me remember it's killing me now
Outlaw Star
Word of warning, everytime they mention Ctarl Ctarl, you will lose a brain cell...I also suggest the English dub, its better than the original voices.
Black Lagoon is a really good/semi serious anime I could easily recommend to someone who doesn't usually like anime. I prefer the subs over the dub though, Dutches voice is lolworthy.
Actually, are there any animes like half life 2 in atmosphere and such? I've been looking but I'm guessing I won't find jack shit which is why I'm at my whits end.
You should definitely check out Baccano!, It's one of my most recent favorite Animes.
This 100%.
It's only 16 episodes and I don't really recall any "asinine" moments from the series (unless you count Isaac and Miria's shenanigans, but it's more of a form of comic relief).

That's incredibly specific, you have to broaden that a bit.
You could try...um...
Man this is hard.
How about Excel Saga if you're into a really zany parody of everything. I think the first episode shows the main character as a high schooler who has just graduated but it is never mentioned again (I think).
I can point to stuff with comedic elements instead of just comedies.
Zetsubou-Sensei is the best recent comedy, the art is kind of shit because shaft made it for 10p an episode and it does have schoolgirls but its brilliant watch an episode on cruncyroll or something to see if you think its worth downloading
surprised how many people like ergo proxy imo that series was very over rated
twelve kingdoms is a good show and quite different from the standard anime fare
mononoke is very interesting as well and when a each episode comes with pdf notes you know its serious
you bastards and your monstar talk, its ages since i watched that and i dont seem to have it in my 1.5tb of anime
Recent? It's almost 4 years old.
About movies, check out Hayao Miyazaki's films. Hayao himself is a big feminist and hates anything related with fanservice and such, so you may like it.
Totally this, watch Grave Of The Fireflies, it like, makes all that super-obscure ~^_^kawaii desu(>^_^)>~ loli crap look pathetic
though i did watch a few episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood once, it was actually alright
zetsubou sensei does consist of more than one series/ova the last episode was released in 2010
zetsubou sensei does consist of more than one series/ova the last episode was released in 2010
I'm fully aware of that, but you weren't that specific now were you.

The similar atmosphere and idea like Half Life 2. I know that's oddly specific but I actually want to see if they are able to create a story that doesn't involve floating people(Ergo Proxy).

Similar atmosphere to HL2?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
You'd be lucky to find an anime that is half as atmospheric as HL2.
Theres not much Anime I like, but if I had to pick 3 good ones, it'd be:
1. Cowboy Bebop
2. The Big O
3. Ghost In The Shell
I absolutely despise that overly cute fanservice shit that forces the above animes into a category they do not belong in.

Yeah, I'm slowly learning that :v:
Fuckers, oh sure We can adapt their culture but they can't even connect with their western fans :v:

They just don't want to. You're not their intended audience.
Yeah, it's hard to find an anime as atmospheric as games like HL2 often due to pacing issues and the fact that I think an interactive medium is simply more immersive.
That being said, there are animes that have pulled atmosphere off like Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell. I don't think I've seen the "the world has been conquered by aliens and we just have to put up with it" atmosphere in HL2 in any anime so far though.
Does Hokuto No Ken (fist of the north star) count? I usually can't stand anime because of the art style/annoying characters/teens with powers shit, but this is probably one of my favorite shows.
The show is so full of campyness, manliness, and awesomeness, that it becomes the most unintentionally funny show I have ever seen. It's also got that famous "ATATATATATTTATATATATA", which never gets old. Ken is probably the most badass fictional character of all time, if he and Saxton Hale fought, it would be the end of the universe.

Oh yeah and I forgot, the backround music is sometimes really good even though it's sort of adds to the cornyness. Some of it is a blend of orchestra funk and jazz, and it fucking rocks.

Death Note, Cowboy Bebop
mushishi and fullmetal alchemist are pretty good. Really the only animes i watch, though.
FotNS
Actually one of the few anime that I could actually stand.
Ghost in the shell, Akira, Hellsing, Cowboy bebop and Pretty much all studio ghibli
