Since when have they've ever been able to do that?

this
see, sins are sins for mostly religious reasons, sure, but they also have some bad side effects. If you personify gluttony, and are gluttonous, you're just gonna be a big fat guy. And you won't really be able to do anything. Because you'll be fucking fat.
A bunch of creatures that both practiced and personified the seven deadly sins would be fucking useless. They'd just be lazy, or horny, or arrogant assholes.
That's what I'm talking about when I say leave the psychological demons to the horror crowd over there in moonspeak land. Fuckin' Silent Hill 2 was the best fucking execution of monsters based on psychology ever fucking done.
Pyramid Head is the best fucking example of a creature embodying the seven deadly sins ever fucking made. At least he was until they started putting him in all the games and gave him his own brand of cereal and shit.
I'll agree that most of the sins in fullmetal alchemist either made no sense or did a pretty bad job of personifying their sin. I still thought it was a decent series however.
Watch Kaiji, it's a show about gambling and has an interesting art style.
whoever said highschool of the dead isnt asinine is a dummy
it's about big boobied bitches and some guys who fight damn zombies
dont forget that the bitches are like 16 and half of the series is boob/panty shot

grave of the fireflies is great tho, watch it
Since I don't really want to make a new thread for something simple that's already being discussed, can any of you guys recommend something in the vein of Hayao Miyazaki's work. His movies and a few others (Steamboy comes to mind) are really the only visual style I like. I've seen Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ponyo and enjoyed them all. Is there a name for the style of art in his films (hand drawn/detailed type stuff) or any other films like them?

Well Studio Ghibli and Hayao Mayazaki are Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki so if you want more then check out their other films like Princess Mononoke and Naussica of teh Valley of the Wind, etc.
For something with a similar magical atmosphere, check out Mushishi.
I say if you want something that isn't asinine from Japan, google "superflat"
Check out a man named Cannabis. I like the cut of his jib.

Oh hey, I didn't notice it was so old either.
Kindly don't remove my post, though. Memories is a good movie.
Series:
Cowboy Bebop
One Piece
YuGiOh (the first, possibly second season - after that it gets hard to follow and loses its charm entirely)
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross
Movies:
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle

nOW I WILl have you know that as a long time watcher of YUGIOH I can sAfley say that it is a paragon of characterization and moral complexity.
Welcome to the nhk, fma;brotherhood, gurren lagann and I guess desert punk.
I really liked elfen lied. it had some of that shit that only anime has that annoys me but the ending was a lot better than in the comic. plus all the gore balanced it out
[sp]it's definitely lucy at the door, not nyu. nyu would have let herself in[/sp]
half of me wants a second season but the other half is content. with a second season lucy might go through more terrible shit but with the way it is it's implied she could live a normal happy life to make up for the shit one she's had so far. plus make it up to that dude for killing his family by being there for him, with whatever that entails. hopefully in a way where he won't end up fucking his cousin.
i'm also watching ghost in the shell, it's really good too.
question, why does all anime have long winded dialogue? is it normal to the Japanese to over exert themselves in conversation or a monologue?

I think the Japanese just think that's how a story/exposition should be told.
overlong philosophical angst is sexy
Was posted on the first page, but Hayao Miyazaki.
Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle are my go to feel good movies. And I usually can't stand anime :v:
What's all this about a Porco Rosso sequel, can anyone confirm?
Detective Conan, Blue Seed, Outlaw Star, and 3x3 Eyes
oh my god [sp]goda's death[/sp] was so fucking satisfying. he's all arrogant and thinks he's the shit then those ideals get splattered all over the floor by the major.
My cousin watched Dark Than Black, I saw like 2 episodes and it seems pretty cool.

[QUOTE=Mr. Scorpio;28542695]About as well developed as a flat chested woman with downs syndrome.
You want a well developed story, go watch Monster. It's long, but it's a brilliant piece of writing.

And if I want Brody proportions I know where to look.

Oh yea, Monster is really long, and boring at times, but it is well written as you said.
I believe it is 76 episodes or so.
