I don't like how the gunplay is but otherwise looks great.
Looks really scripted
Naughty Dog confirmed it isn't scripted. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2012-the-last-of/731334 Watch at 4:25, it's totally believable too if you played Uncharted 3. The bar scene seems to use an early version of the tech.
The one part in this demo that I have trouble believing wasn't some kind of staged or scripted thing was after the girl hits the dude with the brick, and the guy runs at him and slams him into the wall, then against the table. Is that a move you can do anywhere where a table is nearby? What happens if you aren't that close to the table? All the stuff on the table bounces when the guy's head gets hit by it, does every object on every table have physics applied just in case a guy's head gets slammed against it?

Like, if you're close enough to a table you will slam the guys head into it, or use a bottle as a weapon and stuff.

The past week or so I've been watching old E3 videos and lamenting how the video game industry wasn't what it once was in 2004. However, this game looks like something I'm going to plunk a pre-order for the day they come out. The fact that the enemies actually panic, show fear, etc is brilliant.
Looks like what I Am Alive should have been. However, I'm going to wait until I see more. This looks too good to be true. I know it's a different company but remember when Bethesda released Oblivion gameplay? It seemed amazing yet in the end it was almost nothing like the finished game. I have a nagging suspicion that this might be the case here.
This is Naughty Dog we're talking about. Completely different bag of potatoes from Bethesda.
I'm sure it'll be great but I don't see anything particularly special about this little clip.
I'm kinda worried of the girls Ai, this game seems like one long escort mission.
That was so fucking intense. Like, real life, every move can make or break you. I'll definitely be adding this to my wishlist. I was literally cringing and gasping at all the situations.
Ho Lee-shit Getting this.
So many amazing games for PS3
Holy shit holy shit holy shit im expecting this one gives the player as many choices as heavy rain and impacts the game world just as dramatically. This is a must buy for me.
PS3 has no gaemz right guiz? :downs:
Wow. Not one person even hinted at that joke this whole thread, and nobody has used that joke in months if not years.
God, that was incredible. I noticed that every time he bashed a guy's face in or otherwise mutilated him, you never saw the damage, the guy was always conveniently faced away from you. Then there was the last guy. It was a split second, but Jesus Christ.

His nose is fucked up, and the blood is flowing down his face.
Frankly, that would be fine with me, but it can't be. How could they predetermine how you use your bullets?
I dont know, it looked very scripted to me. Obviously the parts where they just free shoot and stuff arent, but like the bit where she throws the rock then he bashes the guys head off the furniture, or the fight at the end. Not saying the game doesnt look awesome, just people should be weary of the fact that a lot of games that are showcased set up scripted events in a way that makes it look like they are random/on the fly and could be done to anyone.
HOLY SHIT, that last guy's expression before he gets shot in the face. It portrays your enemies as unfortunate, desperate human beings opposed to mindless baby killers. It's been a long time since I've been this moved by violence in a video game.

But Ellie attacking the enemy when you're in trouble seems like it could happen every time you need help (to a degree). And bashing enemies into furniture was in Uncharted, where melee attacks next to walls and alike would change the animation. The only thing that looked scripted 100% IMO was the end fight (as soon as Joel took the shotgun), I really doubt melee fights would get to a struggle on the floor, and that Ellie would attack with a knife and get thrown away rather than take another blunt object and throw like before. But it looked better this way and made the amazing ending possible.

My housemate has a 360 anyway, so not much to loose.
At 5:20, when the hunter hears the gun click and says "I know that sound!", do you think you can trick him with an empty gun to draw him out, and then surprise him with a loaded one?
My only problem is the girl sounds too old, she looks like 8 or something, other than that looks fantastic!
My only problem is the girl sounds too old, she looks like 8 or something, other than that looks fantastic!
The hell are you talking about, she looks at least 16. What the hell kinda 8 year olds have you been seeing?
8 year olds on HGH most likely.
The hell are you talking about, she looks at least 16. What the hell kinda 8 year olds have you been seeing?
To be fair, she does look really young if you only really notice her height.
This looks incredible. The part I loved was when you take that guy hostage, and you walk out the door and the other guy stands up as if trying to reason, but then you aim the gun at him and he knows thats all out the window, says "Aw fuck" and dives to cover. And obviously that last guy, that was fucking astonishing.
After seeing that demo, p. much an insta-buy for me.
To be fair, she does look really young if you only really notice her height.
Yeah, it threw me off when I first saw her, since I remember reading that she's supposed to be around 14 years old. More on topic, this game looks damn good, I need to get more things for my PS3 (I literally have no games for it.)
I like (From the demo anyway) how she doesn't get in your way or anything, and although the last brick and knife bit seemed scripted she looks to be helpful than annoying.
She's a little pre-teen girl of course she won't get in the way.
Added to my list. It looks like another fun type of survivalist-type game.
I'm thinking she can't be with you 100% of the time, so maybe she gets kidnapped after a while and you spend most of the game searching for her?
