Live, the point of this was to work up to things. Whilst you have started with lots of technology. I.E. Lawn mowers. Lots Of metal without even mining.
You need to slow down, ALOT.
Build slower since one of the Dice rolls is Speed building, which means you can build technology faster for a random amount of turns that i roll a dice with or decide...

Sorry ill slow.
But that doesnt mean to say i cant build mines to get metal does it?
You can dig, and support with wood, but i suggest to stop using metal until you've mined it.
You actually have to use the resources.
