I don't like this guy at all. He doesn't take requests fine, but if he was a decent person,ne should treat everyone of his subscribers as equals not
"You've already been replaced"
I would kill for 500 subscribers who waited every week to watch my videos.
People like this don't deserve having a fan base when they can't even treat their fans properly.
I also livestream alot and if I even got 1 follower who watched me everyday, I'd thank him all the time.
[editline]25th February 2013[/editline]
Look at Critical, his videos are awesome and all of his fanbase love him, because he listens to his fan base and has actual respect for them.
When he gets a request from quite alot of people, he does it and gets a fuckton of views because that's what the viewers want.
He's being honest, and I gotta admit I like not being fucking pandered to, people on youtube greatly overestimate their worth, it's like one person boycotting mcdonalds or someshit.
Did you miss the part in the video where he talked about all the money he gave to charity last year.
His point is that he shouldn't have to go out of his way to prove to random people on the internet that hes a nice guy.
Why waste time making videos about how much he loves all his faceless subscribers when he can just continue making videos about games.
Everybody I watch constantly thanks the fans and does things for the fans while asking for more things they can do to make the fans happier
Those TB comments just make it sound like all of his subscribers are expendable and easily replaced so it doesn't matter if he treats them like shit
Kind of a dick move since those people help put the money in his wallet
He does thank his viewers though, he just doesn't give a fuck about cunts trying to force a game on him or something, like going with the mcdonalds thing earlier, it's like someone going to a mcdonalds and demanding pizza.
Critical makes short videos, they are ALWAYS good, he has never said a bad thing to anyone on his fan base and he gives (i think all) his earnings to charity.
I think TB has gotten too big and so he can get away with being a nob to his fanbase now since like he said "You've just been replaced"
Also TB's videos don't have a specific genre, more just like, gameplay videos, not humerous, etc...
I've watched 1 or 2 of his Dota 2 videos recently and I know he's meant to be bad at it but, who wants to watch a bad player give bad commentary on Dota 2.

Thats becuase youtubes subs are expendable. He's gotten to where he is now by doing what he wants and running his channel the way he wants to, if he suddenly stopped doing that and releasing videoes about how much he loves us and doing fan requests instead of his normal videoes and stuff then I'd stop watching becuase I don't care.
Sorry but you can try as hard as you can but no one can have 980,000 subscribers and be nice and equal to all of them.
And maybe TB deserves his subs what with him releasing 2 videos every day consistently for the past year or so.
While you have a point in that you cant have 980k subscribers and make sure to do content that each and everyone likes, it's not hard to at the very least not be a dick towards them.

Everybody
Watching somebody who is good at the game isn't very entertaining, watching somebody suck dick at a game can be hilarious
All of the RoosterTeeth lets plays for example
It's simple enough to open a poll every now and then to ask what videos he should do. Then again like I said, he's gone big enough to not give a shit about his fan base, much like CoD franchises and big companies.
They just pump out content while the fan base lick it up.

It's just him being bad though. It's not humorous at all, the RoosterTeeth ones are actually funny since they are comedic.
I could imagine him editing his video and making a compilation of him being bad, that might be funny then, but a full 30-40 minute match of me and others going "why the fuck did you do that you retard" and what not.
Then again, it might be funny to people who don't play dota.
I can't believe nobody mentioned how many times he said "huh yeah" I say 14 times.
From what I gather, he got upset because someone wanted him to play a game then he replies to that comment on his video I guess, saying he doesn't do game requests and then his comment got rated as spammed?
I don't understand why he has to be such a fucking old lady about it. just going on and on about it giving us different examples huh yeah? About how his videos shouldn't be ABOUT ONE PERSON THE VIERWER ARGH I DON'T WANT TO DO WHAT YOU TELL ME TO DO I HAVE THINGS ALREADY READY TO REVIEW BLUH BLUH PUZZLE INDIE GAMES.
This is all balderdash. 25 minute video explaning why he doesn't do requests. He doesn't even sound like he enjoys doing what he does, like I though people doing the shit that he kind of does were happy to play new games and to show them off he's just like I give good games the thumbs up and bad games the thumbs down. So if it's not to his taste he's just going to call it shit then? Oh yeah great biased video game reviews from someone who has an annoying habbit of saying yeah a lot.
I assume he finally just felt like he had to address the issue of why he does not take requests. I completely agree with him on his stance. He does not want to take requests since then everyone will feel entitled to have a request then bitch when he does not do theirs. He does not want to do videos on games he does not want to play. He does not want to spend all his time doing those requests or looking through comments to find the requests.
He is doing videos on games he enjoys playing, why should he have to make videos on games that he does not enjoy playing. If he does not do a video on a game, tough shit, find someone else who will.
One of the people I watch, lvlcap, has said how much time he has a week spent on working to put videos on youtube. I think it was over 70 hours a week. You have to play the game to get footage, then there is the editing. When you spent that much time just to do videos on games you enjoy playing, I would not want to spend more time on having to play games that you do not want to play.
In the end its his channel and he does what he wants to do.

Is he actually wrong though? I mean sometimes he's needlessly blunt and aggressive, but usually the only time I've ever actually seen him say something like "You've already been replaced" is when someone leaves a comment to the effect of "OMG I DON'T LIKE THAT YOU DID X YOUR CHANNEL IS REALLY GOING DOWN HILL MAN UNSUBSCRIBE!!!!"
What is he actually supposed to say? "NO WAIT RANDOM GUY! I PROMISE I'LL DO WHAT YOU WANT FROM NOW ON, BECAUSE YOUR ONE SUBSCRIPTION IN MY 980,000 IS INVALUABLE!!!"
I'm willing to bet that a fair number of the people who "unsubscribe" don't actually do so anyway, and simply say that they will because they think it will give them some kind of leverage to get what they want.
He's a total dick about it sometimes, but I can actually see why it's a good idea to put your foot down on something like that.
When he says "You've just been replaced"
That's basically saying to every single one of his subscribers, no matter how loyal.
I don't need you, you're just 1 number on a huge scale. So basically when he said that to the guy unsubbing, he was saying it to his whole fan base.

And hes right.
That's not a good attitude at all. It's a terrible attitude, but if people enjoy watching a guy who doesn't give a single shit of what you think, who am I to argue.
Anyway, thanks for the debate.
Deal with the fact TB is a video maker not a celebrity, so he does not need people to serve him as some arm support or to suck his dick, nor he has to do the same.
Think you got that mixed up, he thinks he's a celebrity(might aswell be with that many subs) and acts like one.
I could imagine someone saying they don't know who Total Biscuit is and then TB getting all stroppy at that.
Think you got that mixed up, he thinks he's a celebrity(might aswell be with that many subs) and acts like one.

No, it's people who make it up to be like that if he considered himself being a celebrity he wouldn't say I don't give a fuck about other people and their subs, people look up to him as some role model then they get burnt at the fact he does not want to be this way, he does what he does to accomplish his goals, he sheds light on things that are worthwhile.
I care more about him making good preview and news videoes every day.
He doesn't care about me and I don't care about him and thats fine. I don't go to his channel to hear about how much he loves and appreciates me I go there for video game news, who cares if hes a dick outside of his channel.
I don't need you, you're just 1 number on a huge scale. So basically when he said that to the guy unsubbing, he was saying it to his whole fan base.
But he doesn't need them.
Even if a guy is a super loyal fan, he's still just one fan out of 980,000.
And I really have to say this again, he has 980,000 subscribers. It is physically impossible to be super close best friends with all of them, he doesn't even know the vast vast majority of them. There's no interviewing process for becoming subscribed to a youtube channel, you just click a button, there's no direct interaction between the content creator and the viewer. Those people are just a number to him, and while that may sound "detached" that's because that's exactly what he is. He makes videos, they watch them, he gets money, they get information, that's the extent of the relationship he has with almost all of them, and I don't see how you can reasonably expect anything more than that.
If someone unsubscribes and is immediately replaced, he has absolutely no way of telling the difference, all he has is literally a number that tells him how many subscribers he has.
Yeah true, which is why I'm saying he's gone that big, he's basically a huge company that just produces and doesn't care for their users/fan base. Which I guess is fine considering I don't watch his videos.
I guess that's just what happens when you get that popular.

You pretty much took it out of my mind, I can't disagree with this because it's well put and explained.
Yeah true, which is why I'm saying he's gone that big, he's basically a huge company that just produces and doesn't care for their users/fan base. Which I guess is fine considering I don't watch his videos.

Yeah he doesn't care about the people watching his videos which is why he makes 2 a day. As well as all the stuff he does with the TGS channel and all the events he does.
He cares about people watching his videos, he doesn't care about people who get mad at him for not playing the exact game they want him to.
TB has stated several times before that he considers stupid internet arguments to be a guilty pleasure that he really shouldn't engage in, but apparently he can't help himself. It doesn't matter how well you can wrestle and humiliate pigs, in the end you both end up covered in mud.
He used to have some kind of app that blocked him from reading youtube comments for that exact reason, but either he stopped using it or he doesn't care anymore. Fact is that he is the kind of guy that doesn't sugarcoat anything and will call stupidity by its name whenever he sees it, and that is part of what makes him so popular. He's the hero Youtube deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
Meanwhile people watch shit like pewdiepie's channel because he's a muppet who would do anything for subs.
Who gives a fuck about what kind of a person he is. The thread is on a video about why he doesn't take requests, but what's being discussed now is how he's conceited or a douche. I'm not even too sure to be honest since everyone keeps throwing in whatever dirt they have on him.
You don't have to like him to listen to his opinion. You don't even have to like his opinion to know it has some valid points in it. So what's the point in talking about him as a person?
Get over yourselves, seriously. Judging people that you don't actually know. Which is a way of acting superior, by the way.
And about that user who "unsubbed" or whatever, seriously? There shouldn't be a 'loyal' fanbase to someone who does reviews. That implies that you'd agree with his opinion no matter what happens. You should just listen to his opinion to help you form your own. Not to mention that announcing that you're unsubbing someone is like saying "You'll be sorry that you upset me!" which makes that user the one with the self-important attitude.

oh god
There's being blunt, and then there's being a dick.
It doesn't matter if you're successful or not, you don't have to be a dick.
I'm not saying you have to pretend to be friends with what are basically tiny numbers to you, but you don't have to lord yourself over them, which he has done. For god's sake, just answer them without being a douche.
That being said, his content is good. As a person though, he's a prick.
