I am shuttering at how quickly people in this thread is coming to the defense of him being such a dick, I don't give a fuck if he does not take requests or anything like that, it's his MO. But when you explode on someone for wondering why or expressing how they feel on the matter then you are over reacting. Not to mention the smarter thing for him to do would've just been to ignore the comment out right, why bring more attention to requests if you don't do them anyway. All he is doing is stirring up drama and yelling over the internet, if he had went off on a fan like this IRL(might I add his average viewer age probably isn't all that old) people would react completely differently. Just because it's the internet does not mean he gets a free pass at being uncivil.
It appears that you either failed to watch the video this thread was about, or just didn't listen during it at all. He explains why he's making the video, and he isn't being rude, he's being real.

And reaffirming that he hates people who think listening to fans means being controlled by fans is not being rude. People don't watch him because he does what people ask for. People subscribe to him for him and his content stream. It's restating what he's said for like the last 4 years.
He doesn't quite get the concept of being a 'famous youtuber.' When you're that famous, you listen to your fans. You don't just ignore them and claim they're all stupid and worthless because you'll have 800 more in a day. It doesn't mean he has to make a video for every single suggestion made, but if a ton of people are requesting for one thing, then he should give it a try. It's his damn job.
Tell us when you come back from your optimistic rainbow land fantasy image of this world. You say " its his damn job" like some misogynist would say a woman should stay in a kitchen. Its his channel, he makes the rules, he makes the videos, and he has every right to do them anyway he wants.
PR coaching? He's constantly booked for covering game releases and tournaments. People want him. People enjoy his personality specifically.
No they enjoy is incredibly massive youtube presence. Seriously, you get TB, you get a massive boost in sales. (usually) He's said multiple times that he gets stress-induced allergies, much of what is derived from reading youtube comments. He usually has someone else look them over for him.

I'm sure his experience has nothing to do with it.
he has a really good point though. his channel isn't about promoting games that his fans like, it's about informing his viewers on new releases and what they're like and what they're about. he says he played antichamber even though he's not into that genre, because he did it for his fans because he knew they'd like to see what it was. it was a new game that came out that a lot of people didn't know enough about to want to buy, and he positively affected its sales. he doesn't make content that he wants because he's selfish, he just doesn't make stupid content that his fans want that doesn't make any sense, like minecraft videos, because enough people know about the game at this point and his channel isn't about taking requests, it's about being informative.
which I kinda of hope he get's people to stop Pre - Ordering games like alot a alot alot of people

I completely fail to see the issue here. In the end, it works out well for both parties.
Jesus christ people. I had no idea Facepunch had such strong opinions on TB. I personally like the guy. Most of the time he has an educated opinion on whatever issue/game he's talking about (and if he obviously doesn't I just stop watching) and he actively goes on about consumer rights and shit. He slams a game if he feels the need to and praises it if it does cool stuff. He does act like an asshole a lot of the time, but half of it is because of dumbass youtube comments that get upset because he said "no" (though it's true he doesn't know how to handle them, and the other half of the time he's just an asshole). And the way I understand it he doesn't see his entire fanbase/subscriberbase as expendable, just the dudes that start flamewars and make requests and do other dumb shit. You guys that compare him to other youtubers that do nice things for fans don't seem to understand that 980,000 subs is a huge damn number. If he wants to run his channel like a business that's his call.

TB isn't oriented around fan interaction like game grumps or whatever else, and not every channel has to be like that to be good. TB's content has nothing to do with how kind he is or how much he donates to charity.
This video wont make the stupid requests go away. it just leaves a bad feeling for people who really like his videos. Dumb move, he should have just stayed silent about it.
why does he even need to openly confront the situation in the first place
Man, something about this guy just makes me so angry. I mean he's pretty smart about PR and game development, but what exactly does he do for gaming? He's so forth coming about how gaming should be and how all developers are wrong, and all that shit but what does he do?, what has he earned to be such a tosser to everyone and everything? All he does is make 'first impressions', and before that made WoW videos. Why is this guy the messiah/Nostradamus of all video games? Also if you can't see how he's an asshole about everything, you're probably a person whos go-to in a conversation with someone is an argument or debate, i.e not having very many conversations with regular people in the first place.
but what exactly does he do for gaming?
Free advertising for indie developers which does help indie developers a lot and is proven, and also shames bad practice such as DRM, DLC and rewards good practices and many other things. Also your post reeks of dumbness.
