You're going to have to hold that electric chainsaw against someone for a long time.

A .22 shot into your head will bounce around your skull and scramble your brains.

As for the side EOTech
Brazilian police use them

Yeah brazilian police might use it but they use it on the left side of the gun.
Right side is really fucking awkward if you're right handed.
And fuck i hate it when people say that .22lr is a weak round. Sure its not powerful but it will still fuck you up.
Use high powered rounds (especially CCI Stingers) and you're fucked.

vs

The .22 is more substantial than I thought. But the point of largest diameter of the 7.62 wound is roughly 3 times bigger than the .22's. Wish I had 5.45 and 5.56 images to compare.
Yeah, but good luck finding caches of 7.62 lying around, especially in the united states.
I think I'd run with a .22 set up, semi-auto rifle with a scope / pistol, along with a nice satchal and crowbar if I were in a zombie apocolypse.
More effective OBVIOUSLY is better, but if your in a tight spot, you want plenty enough ammo.
[editline]30th January 2012[/editline]
plus running around with an AK47 with low ammo is just bad

Cheap as shit and mass produced my friend, even have a load of it in the US. Normally $100-200 can get you 500-1,000 rounds. My friend bought an SKS and got a can like the one above with it for free.

He probably paid a shit ton for the SKS if he ended up getting a can free.

How heavy is that? Yeah, ok, that's a shit ton of ammo, just... I wouldn't want to carry that around. :v:
I think 4-6 mags would be really nice.
.22 rounds because they are lighter and more abundant than any round on earth. I happen to have about 2500 rounds in my safe since i plink a lot and rabbit hunt.
That look's unsafe as HELL.
They're for cutting down limbs that are too high too reach on trees yet still present a problem. Also, that thing running off electricity isn't going to do jack shit to a zombie. It'll give you some deep fucking gashes then abruptly run out of power.

I've always tried explaining that, .22s are so fucking light, you can get 500 for about 13$ and you can carry thousands on you before you're hindered in any way!

Just out of curiosity have you ever actually fired a gun? One caliber is equal to 1/100th of an inch, meaning that a .22 is nearly a quarter inch projectile flying into your fucking head. Yeah, that's not really a standard nail.
Wouldn't an SMG using 9MM ammo really be the best? At least in the USA, everyone owns some form of handgun there, so finding 9MM ammo wouldn't be too hard
Well that's fucking stupid.
And some don't. Most don't. Why do you act like you know everything?
you realize half that attitude is out of sarcasm, I don't actually have that attitude when talking seriously. PM me a serious, difficult, question about weaponry and I'll probably consult someone else and credit that person.
too much time in the other zombie "realism" threads have made me discount the .22 because of the "gelatinous coating" and other stuff, where people insist it takes multiple precisely placed .308s to the head to kill a zombie, so I decided to avoid those arguments.
Against humans the .22 is lethal, however there are situations where it has failed to kill people even when hit in the head directly, even failing to penetrate the skull (I remember reading a news story about the italian austerity riots, where that happened).

yes, in fact I've probably shot more .22 than anything else.

Of course there are going to be misfires every now and then, .22s are extremely cheap.

also .22s don't have a lot of penetration through materials, so zombies who are wearing protective clothing (a hard hat perhaps) might be harder to kill than with more powerful rounds.
A .22 can't even penetrate a textbook (I've actually tested this myself, as well)
http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot31.htm
if the zombies hit your local university... be scared
I shot .22 rounds back in cadets and misfires were pretty common. I wouldn't trust my life with them unless I absolutely had to.
And then there's us Europeans who'll have to result to axes and fists when zombies invade the world.
It'll be 300 all over.

Yeah, they won't do well against armor, but they will perform good enough against living/undead things.
But still, I think they would be best overall do to the sheer number of bullets you could carry on yourself without it being a problem. Box of 500 only weighs a couple lbs so just get I dunno, 4 or 5 of them you're set.

well, I guess in a "shambler" zombie scenario they would be acceptable
with "runner" scenario, where stopping power is more important and misfires could be deadly, I think larger calibers would be in order.

Strange, Maybe its an issue with the rifle or the ammunition brand?
Because with my TOZ-78, i've fired over maybe 1000 rounds and I've had under 5 misfires, firing Winchester Powerpoint rounds.

it doesn't have to be sources, I'm just saying making a statement like that is irrelevant to the discussion and not helping.
