I think he's absolutely right. Flash Gordon is a great show.

Since this bothers me to a unbelievable degree I'll type a little bit on the matter. I quote the first 35 seconds of his speech where he lays out his argument. Everything else is based on this faulty premise he sets in the first few seconds.
This is... this is mind blowing stuff: One of the most striking discoveries of modern science has been that the laws and the constants of physics, the numbers that govern the universe, unexpectedly conspire in an extraordinary way to make the universe habitable for life. In other words, the universe is finely tuned on a razors edge[...].
The universe in general is not what anyone would call habitable. For the most part it features a lack of warmth, light, water and oxygen, which makes for an unpleasant space to live. There is however at least one planet that we definitely know is habitable, so he might still have a point.
In other words, the universe is finely tuned on a razors edge in a way that defies mere chance, and which points powerfully and is best explained by the existence of a creator.
His whole argument boils down to the improbability of habitable conditions, and the fact that life can exist on earth proves at the very least the influence of a higher being that directly or indirectly created this life.
Thanks to a lot of striking discoveries of modern science we know that there are more than enough planets in the universe that earth-like conditions on at least one of them are extremely likely. Even the possibility of multiple such planets is very real. Since life can be based on a variety of materials and not exclusively on carbon, earth-like conditions don't even have to be present for even more lifeforms. In a nutshell, if you look at a single planet, life is indeed rare. For the whole universe, the chance of (multiple!) habitable and inhabited planets is unavoidably high, with or without a higher being.
I hate that some people tend to ignore readily available knowledge and facts to hold on to their pathetic believes. As long as they do not spew it into the eyes and ears of anyone else I couldn't care less. However, stupidity seems to be contagious.

Saw thread title, saw comments, :v:'d.
Just finished discussing this very argument in my philosophy class a week or two ago.

:v:
Oh this dude...what a load.
Seriously, I'm glad he at least mentioned the possibility of other Universes, that impressed me, because I was thinking it...
But then he goes on about how there's no evidence for other Universes, which is crap. While unverified, certain measured instances of gravity have been speculated to be the cause of a neighboring Universe. And aside from that, everytime humankind has made the assumption that ANYTHING is the one and only example of it's kind, we've been proven wrong. That's a 100% margin of error. Their existence is not only possible, but extremely likely given the complex layering patterns our own Universe exhibits.
Aside from that, here is another creationist who declares "Eureka!" upon discovering trite things like overwhelming odds or vast complexity, which in reality are proof of exactly nothing. Youtube alone is a good enough indicator of just how often astronomical odds tend to pay off every day.
But of course, nothing hits the mark quite like this refusal to accept that coincidences are merely coincidences, and nothing is more disingenuous than a creationist trying to use physics to prove their elusive invisible skyman (by way of disproving doubt) when they outright ignore physics and basic biology by denying the validity of evolution.
That's the M.O. of any Creationist: Pick and choose what you're willing to believe.
In some ways, the WBC is actually more honest and has more integrity than these people. If nothing else, they at least seem to know every word of their holy book and stick with what it says.
Yes, what they do is pure evil of course, but at least they're not wishy-washy.
This video was very educational. I didn't know gravity was measured in inches.
Bread is hard to make, just like the universe, thus god exists.

Guess what else fits in the hand and doesn't immediately squirt...
A pepper?
If life can't survive gravity beyond the fine tuned gravity of earth then why do we do fine in space?
Furthermore, he seems to be assuming that gravity is just something floating in space. He tells us that without gravity all the planets would be in chaos, but doesn't gravity come from any sort of mass?
nukular
Yeah, I'm done.
predicted ITT: angsty athiest teens acting like all religious people are foxnews-esque dumbasses
Ignorance isn't caused by simply Fox news. Though you could argue most of it is, it isn't purely from it. I'm sure there are perfectly ignorant people in North Korea believing that Kim Jong il created the universe, yet accessing the internet and accessing stations that aren't of North Korea is illegal there.
I hate how retards like him and so many others ruin the name of Christians.
Yes its true that if the physics today were different we would not be able to survive. But that doesnt mean life cant evolve on different universes with different physics.
Science is too complicated and I don't understand it, therefore God exists.
Also I loved the "There is no evidence to suggest an infinite number of universes", so it's just as likely as the existence of God lol.
Yes its true that if the physics today were different we would not be able to survive. But that doesnt mean life cant evolve on different universes with different physics.
Indeed, I think the idea of confining life to the current universal constants is ignorant. Life has a way of evolving to defeat any obstacles.
oh my science...........if only i could go back in time and kill the writer(s) of the bible. Religion starts more wars then it does end them.
If punching him in the face wasn't in the exact right place for me to punch him in the face I wouldn't be able to punch him in the face.
Thankfully, it is.
Golly, I didn't know it was impossible to comprehend a finely tuned dial! Thanks for enlightening me!

Funny. In grade school me and my friends were discussing grade school and naturally we got into arguments about religion..
I said I don't believe in god and my friend hit me. I said "What the hell, man?"
Then he said god grants him the right to use violence to convert the non-believers.

I don't think I worded it that way, but I understand, if I didn't understand what a myth was then I'd be pretty embarrassed too, and try to get the attention away from me
