Every film is canon, that's quite clear. The great thing about this show is that it has the 'balls' to actually follow an R rated film series no holds barred. If you find it 'goofy' you're not watching it in the right mindset "omg watch it right amirite?"

it's indirectly referenced in season 1, and fully referenced in season 2, but they can't do much with the ~lore~ from aod.

It's not "indirectly references" in season 1, it directly follows one of the endings for AoD.

except it doesn't. like i said, universal owns the rights to aod and it's why they completely glossed over it during ash's recap to pablo. they can't use any of the things established in aod (which is now changed because season 2 is going to be referencing it thanks mr universal)

p.s. it's also why ash doesn't have his metal hand.

Army of Darkness ends with Ash working at a supermarket when the demons suddenly come. Ash vs Evil Dead starts with Ash working at a supermarket when the demons suddenly come. Are you seeing a pattern here?

i don't even get why you're arguing when the information is literally out there that they couldn't use stuff established in aod due to legal reasons.

Well, they sure as shit re-used the ending of AoD as the starting premise of the show so I don't see how it matters what they could or could not do.
