While Tim Curry's performance was more comedic than scary, I think that's what made it more scary
He appears as your everyday circus, happy clown wearing bright attire and speaks in a very welcoming voice, then changes right away when he's got your trust and kills you
I am excited to see how Bill Skarsgård holds up as the new pennywise but I think Curry's performance was fantastic
When people talk about Tim Curry's performance (how it's silly instead of just trying to be scary all the time) enhancing the atmosphere and overall creepiness, this is the best scene to demonstrate that from the tv series:
