For anyone confused about the 'Pandemic alert scale' We are currently at 4. More detail here: http://www.who.int/csr/disease/avian_influenza/phase/en/index.html Hezzy, you may wan't to add this to the OP
Excuse me while I :tinfoil:.
I'm confused. Ebola is a deadly virus, it has a 90% fatality rate, yet this thing suddenly spreads and kills people in mexico, who have a terrible hygiene and even worse health service and everyones scared. Infact why am I scared?
Ebola cannot spread worth a damn. That's why it's not dangerous except to the few poor schmoes who manage to contract it.
If i get this I will make it my goal to give it to as many people as humanly possible.
Ebola cannot spread worth a damn.
Yup. Oh wait, I didn't. "It has diseases"
ur so witty. Thanks for proving my point.
If i get this I will make it my goal to give it to as many people as humanly possible. It spreads like a motehrfucker, it just kills so fast that it contains itself :v:
Then your an evil bastard if you want to spread a deadly sickness.
pandemic jokes are getting old now.
It wasn't a joke, I'm asking if anyone wants to play.

[Insert 9/11 conspiracy here] I think you people should realize that it's actually true. The virus is man made in a lab. Now ladies, you should buy a gas mask.... and stop watching the TV. I think those half a million coffins stacked in some field in the USA are going to be used sometime soon.... i sense it.

According to that source it's a phase 5 when "the epidemic is characterized by human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one WHO region." (The current WHO-region being "region of the americas") We're no longer in phase 4 it seems.
lol ITN: We're only one step away from being one step away from a pandemic.
Also, the flu's a virus, so as far as I know, it doesn't create any toxins, it's just causes your cells to die.
A virus invades a cell and multiplies until it bursts right?
lol ITN: We're only one step away from being one step away from a pandemic.
im still not worried. infections =/= deaths
Indians in India? .. Also, no virus can fully kill the human race. An airborne, waterborne, form of zaire will possibly decimate the population (1/10 gone [you learned the definition of decimation today]). The human survivors either will not have been exposed to it, or will have an immunity.
He's dissapointed in you.
A virus invades a cell and multiplies until it bursts right?
Yep.
Oh shit, one step!!! Wait, the cold..there are millions of viruses that are ONE step away from Pandemic.

It would be cool to see everyone walking around with a mask on, but would be scary.
It would be cool to see everyone walking around with a mask on, but would be scary.
How would it be cool?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_viruses FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU declare panic! We're only one step away from Phase 4, and all those viruses don't look very fun! (Yes, I know not all of them are human to human transmission. )
Also, the flu's a virus, so as far as I know, it doesn't create any toxins, it's just causes your cells to die.
Goddamn it, I knew I'd written something wrong! Ugh.
Oh I wonder where you went.
Mexico? Also, I hope they are gonna hand out gasmasks
How would it be cool?
Dunno, would be like something out of a movie, but much more real and scary.
Then your an evil bastard if you want to spread a deadly sickness.
Am I really that obvious?
The government i tell you!
I'm no longer worried, people in the U.K are being treated and responding to the drugs, and they are in a quarantined enviroment, so if they shut down planes to and from Mexico before anyone else brings it over, we should be ok.

Infact why am I scared?
Ebola is scary, i give you that, but if it suddenly became airborne, the group that first contracts it would be klled faster then it would have time to spread. It is the longer time viruses that take maybe 1-3 weeks before showing symptoms and dying that are the most dangerous ones.
Let's face the facts here people. We're fucked. Let's be the american government and blame Iraq.
