this is not the first time we have dealt with this disease we just need time to make enough of the vaccine to take it out.
That'll take a while. Virii mutate and adapt.
Look what I drew just for this occasion:

Wow, there's like 9 fingers on that hand.
That'll take a while. Virii mutate and adapt.
yes but this vaccine is pretty damn good, and it's not that deadly of a disease it COULD BE if we don't fucking contain it now
Except it doesn't kill all people. Has a handful of deaths in hundreds of cases.
Once you have it you make anti-bodies to fight against it so you'll never get that strain again.
Multiply by the number of people in the world.
apparently a vaccine could be ready in as little as 6 weeks:

We can only hope so, plus hope that it doesn't kill anyone.

Vaccines aren't "damned good", they are specific.

If a vaccine is developed for a specific strain and that straight mutates 'slightly' is it possible that it would still provide some protection?

I'd imagine so as long as it didn't mutate too much.

Depends on what mutates. If the form of the virus changes then no, but if only the genom changes, it should still provide some protection. But don't count on that.
Finland has atleast 1 infected.
No confirmation thought.
Obama address is happening right now.
AND he's just sneakily introduced in Arlen Specter. Sneaky bastard.

I think you'll find people do care otherwise there wouldn't be swine flu on every newspaper and news website.

Because it's spreading.
people have died, this strain of flu is much more dangerous than average flu, so you stfu and :dogout:
No, it really isn't.
The news makes it out that way because of how contagious it is.
So you can use your little emotes and acronyms while you're dying of AIDS.
EDIT: I'm obviously not dead yet.
EDIT2: Cases are basically surrounding my state.

Well it isn't something to fret over, if this kid got the flu during the normal flu season they'd just have been another yearly statistic.
