wonder how soon it'll be before this starts affecting our lives (as in one of our family members gets pigflue)
Oh how surprising, Facepunch is still freaking out. Let me reiterate what I am sure has been said and ignored.
It's good to see you are all being so easily taken by the hype.
Firstly, the main reason we are at a 5 is because of the boy in Texas that died. Yes, someone in the US died from the swine flu, it's ze' end, right?
Ready for the fun part? Firstly, he lives in Mexico City and he was just here visiting family in Texas, not only that but he also had other conditions that weren't related to the flu at all but still made him susceptible, and probably didn't help his chances at living.
Third, it has now been confirmed that products like Tamiflu and similar things, if used in the early stage, do fight off the flu. I was watching CNN and they were talking with one of Mexico's governers and he was there with one of the first case patients. Would you like to know what he was doing? Playing tackle football.. just an fyi.
Stop freaking Facepunch, I promise, it's gonna be okay.

If Swine flu spread as slow as it does I say a year to two years to start affecting people that are close relatives or just bad luck.

I'd laugh if it instantly comes a pandemic overnight.
That'd make me lol reallyyyy hard.

Can you go be 12 somewhere else?
I want to know why some people can't use Common Sense, if someone is sick, or you sell something with "eww, yucky" stuff on it, just avoid it.
Oh great... level 5 now. 5 cases in the UK.
99 cases in the US and A, 16 in texas, we had 6 yesterday, 4 school districts are closed for 2 weeks where i live, mine remained open, A case in the capital, and texas delcared a state emergency, can I am going into town today WHERE THEY CONFIRMED IT.
Bring it on i say.
The one death in the United States was a Mexican.
This thing only kills Mexicans, apparently. Does that mean we can use it to protect our borders?

Actually it's become level five due to human to human spreading in more than one country, not because of the death in America.
I'm not going to get infected, I have a gasmask and some Swedish firesteel :c00l:
Expect the worst, then you won't be hit by a big nasty surprise. If you're wrong, well great! Not everyone dies! It's a win/win scenario.

No shit.
But I gaurentee the thing to push it over the edge was the death in a second country.

It's fun freaking out. It's like a movie but in real life and everybody's in it. It's just fun to go freak out and hype, etc. at this time. Yes, I do know people are sick all over and dying but that's the fun of it.
If no one actually agrees with me and are actually freaking out, then I'm a sick person.

I actually do agree with you for some reason. It's a nice change from the whole 'Grow up, go to school, go to college, get a job, die' life. You gotta do something exciting in your life and tell your grandsons that you escaped a global catastrophe. Well... if it ever does become that bad anyway.

I agree with you. I keep making jokes about it, and reassuring people that we will all end up OK.

I reassure people too that we will end up Ok. But it's still nothing to joke about...
Well, a little bit won't do damage :v:
The WHO has raised the pandemic level to level 5, on the scale of 1-6
Anyone know if the 3M 6006 filters will help against airborne diseases? :tinfoil:

No idea, but swine flu is not airborne.
Edit:
Baz, you are a fukken ninja :v:
One person in the whole state has it and my girlfriend's parents quarantined her from people already. Can't go out, can't see me, I can't come over.
People are fricking hysteric. Like a hundred people die every day from the normal flu in the US, yet everyone's flipping a nut about this shit.
