My dad's a doctor and he says, despite calming, there is someting coming. He expects a very large percentage of people will get it, but that doesn't mean they will die. The people in Mexico die because they don't have the money for tamiflu, the guy in america died because there were other complications that added to it. The damage had been done before TamiFlu could fix it. You might get Swine Flu, in fact, you probably will. You will probably feel bad but this doesn't mean you will die. you may die if some other complication arises!

I don't think anyone has the knowledge to make that statement.
lol i wore one of those masks to school the teachers did not care but a lot of my peers were wondering wtf was i doing. some other kids were just staring at me and it was hilarious.
Your Dad is an idiot and needs to go back to school.
There's loads of signs it'll spread, won't be lethal but most likely it'll spread.
My friend says he has swine flu, but I think he's telling porkies. porkies
I thought I had swine flu, so I phoned up the helpline, but all I could get was crackling.
I really don't think you have the knowledge nor the authority to make that statement. I don't think anyone has the knowledge to make that statement.
Hey, he doesn't know. This is just his opinion.
Hey, he doesn't know. This is just his opinion.
Yet you had to write your "opinion" in a decree-like manner and bold it. Yup, just an "opinion".
Yet you had to write your "opinion" in a decree-like manner and bold it. Yup, just an "opinion".
Yer, I guess so.
I find the wikipedia article to be pretty good, it's compiled from a variety of sources.
Which one, the one about the virus or the one about the outbreak. The one about the virus is a huge building site, in my opinion.
Hopefully it won't get much worse though it is now a level 5 crisis. When the swine flu first surfaced my girlfriend was on a cruise and stopped in mexico the same day it was surfaced. I'm worried about her :(
The herpes will fight it off.
My high school sent home a packet of information about the Swine Flu today, because a Swine Flu case was confirmed in Lowell, MA, which is near the city where my school is. Honestly, there was a flu epidemic that ran through the whole city last December, and NO ONE gave a shit. Nearly everyone who went to a high school football game at a neighboring high school got a strain of the flu, which resulted in nearly everyone in the district getting it, yet it didn't make national news.

Well I won't be forgetting Swine Flu anytime soon...
Well I won't be forgetting Swine Flu anytime soon...
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You do realize that you have a better chance of walking outside and getting hit by a car than even contracting the swine flu?
We had a big announcement about it.... ....and I live in fucking Switzerland.
You too? :hfive:
Well I won't be forgetting Swine Flu anytime soon...
Your new title is fucking hilarious. You're kind of a coward, broski :350:
You too? :hfive:
We can contract swine flu together :hfive:
Theres some suspected(or confirmed?) cases in houston now. 60 miles south of me. :tinfoil:
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You do realize that you have a better chance of walking outside and getting hit by a car than even contracting the swine flu?
Yeah ...but car accidents happen alot :(. Don't laugh, it was 4:32 AM on a Wednesday, I couldn't sleep and got 3 hours sleep for school the next day.
Your new title is fucking hilarious. You're kind of a coward, broski :350:
'cos I have a phobia of illnesses?
Yeah ...but car accidents happen alot :(. Don't laugh, it was 4:32 AM on a Wednesday, I couldn't sleep and got 3 hours sleep for school the next day.
Exactly. Car accidents happen a lot. That's my point. You should be terrified of getting in a car.
Exactly. Car accidents happen a lot. That's my point. You should be terrified of getting in a car.
I make this point incessantly whenever someone makes a big deal of school shootings, etc. It's quite fascinating how logical probability fails so blatantly when it comes to the nature of fear in humans.
'cos I have a phobia of illnesses?
Yes.
Exactly. Car accidents happen a lot. That's my point. You should be terrified of getting in a car.
I'm more scared by the fact it's moving around fast...
I make this point incessantly whenever someone makes a big deal of school shootings, etc. It's quite fascinating how logical probability fails so blatantly when it comes to the nature of fear in humans.
It would be half as bad if the media wouldn't blow all that stuff out of proportion.
I'm more scared by the fact it's moving around fast...
Well... It's not really spreading that fast. We first heard about it on monday, and we have 9 confirmed cases. Not really fast.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You do realize that you have a better chance of walking outside and getting hit by a car than even contracting the swine flu?
That's the thing about pandemics, they tend to start off small. ITT: People think they know more than the WHO about diseases.
That's the thing about pandemics, they tend to start off small. ITT: People think they know more than the WHO about diseases.
WHO's pandemic rating system is somewhat flawed. And their chief isn't very smart when it comes to panic control... I mean, I figure that we'll be seeing a pandemic, but not any time soon. Maybe during winter, but by then we should have a means of fighting it, either a vaccine in the works or otherwise.
WHO's pandemic rating system is somewhat flawed. And their chief isn't very smart when it comes to panic control...
And you'd do better.
