sanity is overrated
You think you're crazy? There's a thread right next to this about how a guy fell in love with a transvestite russian cyborg telekinetic.
Maybe you should be one of those paramedics that joke around a lot and makes wise cracks all the time even when people are dying. You may seem like an asshole but if you're witty enough people will forgive you for making such exquisite puns.
Smoke cigarettes.
I'll ask my dad for advice on this, he was the cop who'd go to homes and deliver the news. In Miami. ergo, it happened a lot, he knows. He'd done it for over 15 years before he moved when I was like, 2 or 3 to Tallahassee. [editline]10:16PM[/editline] then he continued to do it here, and then up until December '08 when he was laid off for a ridiculous misunderstanding, which I will not explain.
I've seen grown men weep at the sight of their kin, dead. I've held babies as they died in my arms. I've seen people torn to pieces, battered and bruised by anyone and everyone.
I suggest you stop seeing these things and see fields of tulips instead Dr. Facepunch prescription pad says: become a gardener
if babies are dying in your arm its maybe because your tears were falling into there mouth and they choked and died
Oh fuck this is so funny.
I suggest you stop seeing these things and see fields of tulips instead Dr. Facepunch prescription pad says: become a gardener
Judge Facepunch orders say: Please stop trying to be funny in serious threads. Fine: $20
Think of the people you saved.
Good job cheering OP up with your avatar.
Religion.
Take a break, seriously. Tell them it's having some psychological effects on you.
don't they do drug tests at your work lol or do you have a card
Judge Facepunch orders say: Please stop trying to be funny in serious threads. Fine: $20
My post had serious undertones. If he's really affected by this, he should take time off.
Go see a therapist.
Hes a fake, not even a paramedic. Paramedics don't break down like this, they get desensitized. My dad is a fireman he has seen a lot too. Don't believe him.
Yeah, they do get desensitized. [sp] But he isn't desensitized yet, because he posted this. [/sp] :downs:
Hot showers, saunas, sleep. Usually clears your head pretty well.

Don't believe him.
Yes, they do. Just because your dad hasn't broken down doesn't mean no one else in EMS has. OP you should see a therapist if things are bothering you that much. I have only been an EMT for a year now but I find the best way to deal with this kind of stuff is to think about it in a funny way. "Maybe you should be one of those paramedics that joke around a lot and makes wise cracks all the time even when people are dying. You may seem like an asshole but if you're witty enough people will forgive you for making such exquisite puns." Pretty much this. I remember when I was taking my PHTLS course one of our teachers had a guy who was looking at a new house and went in the basement to check it out and smelled gas. He went to turn on the light and the power was out and there was no flashlight around so being the smart man he was to took out his lighter and.......KABOOM. When he got on scene and heard the story he just started laughing. You know you did something stupid when you are laying on the ground covered in second and third degree burns and the paramedics are standing there laughing at you.

Don't believe him.
Maybe it's the fact that I haven't become desensitized yet? The stuff I've seen doesn't even come close to the offended page on Encyclopedia Dramatica, or Uncyclopedia, or whatever. Maybe you shouldn't make crazy assumptions, because everyone is different. I'm sure your dad has seen a lot more than I have, and that's probably why it doesn't get to him. I think I'll take the make puns on everything route, it may help.
See a therapist.
This and take up a couple hobbies.
Play some video games.
Find other ways to help people besides what you're doing right now. Be a social worker. Or an accountant. Or a social worker. Can I toke up with you?
Find other ways to help people besides what you're doing right now. Be a social worker. Or an accountant. Or a social worker. Can I toke up with you?
I can't quit, I love this job. It's just stressful. Pack me a bowl and we'll hit bongs all night brah. :D
I came in here thinking of some 12 year old kid "my life suckkxxxz1!1 guis listen to mee!1!" But a legitimate paramedic, I can only imagine what it feels like to have those things happen to you. Having a baby die in my hands would drive me to the edge. I respect your choice of jobs, but seriously take a break or something pal.
Personally I deal with crushing depression and ungraspable rage by drawing. Try art, it's a good outlet for insanity.
Meditate far from civilization. Deep down, a lot of us probably want to do that
Get some job related concealing. P.S. Insane people don't acknowledge their insanity.
Watch happy moments in movies or documentaries. In a place like those monasteries in the Tibetian mountains.
if babies are dying in your arm its maybe because your tears were falling into there mouth and they choked and died
I was taking this thread seriously until i laughed for about 5 minutes when i read this.. Please don't think any less of me.
Everyone's favorite Pot-Smoking, Paramedic is back. But I need help. I've seen so many grisly things lately, this is getting hard to deal with. It's taking a toll on my personal life, my relationships, my sanity at home. I've seen grown men weep at the sight of their kin, dead. I've held babies as they died in my arms. I've seen people torn to pieces, battered and bruised by anyone and everyone. So, I need a muse, something to get my mind off all this. I've been toking up more than usual, playing more guitar than usual. Is there anything I can do to ease my mind off of all this? Anything anyone can do to help would be appreciated.
Perhaps you're too emotional for your job? I don't know much about emotions, but I know people that have them seem to be greatly moved by such images/thoughts. I am only emotionally attached to people close to me, that I've grown up with. So I am not touched the slightest at the thought or sight of loss/pain from anyone else around me.
