I don't doubt that people haven't had fun with COD. I myself have even enjoyed them.
I'm saying that game like this which is based solely on shooting shit into tiny bits with massive guns is just plain brainless fun. You don't need to think of any strategies or any other bullshit. You just run and shoot and see how the blood flies everywhere.
It's FUN fun. Not the same fun as COD.
FUCK YES, i fucking loved the first and second encounters, i thought around the beggining of serious sam 2 was fucking abysmal compared to the other games because it was too cartoony. I only liked around the end with the big watermelon shooting robots and massive spiders like the harvesters from quake 4.

While I do agree with your point, for me CoD is pretty close in it's seriousness to games like Serious Sam, it's just tacticool and James Bondish instead of having monsters and magic. CoD's singleplayers are pretty fun if you don't take them seriously. Still not worth the price tho.
I fucking hated SSII, so fucking boring, stopped playing after 5 mins...
