I just got my Echo 1 AUG today. I went out to shoot it and the BBs were falling short so I went inside to make sure the hop up was put together properly, which it wasn't. So after that I put everything back together and somehow the upper receiver seemed to be a way tighter fit than it was before. I went back outside to shoot again and nothing happened on semi or auto. I went back inside, took the upper receiver off and this time when I pulled the trigger it fired. WTF is wrong with my AUG?
I am wanting a Russian Gasmask for Airsoft. Any good ones that I could use? And I am going to replace the glass lenses with plastic depending on what the gas mask is like.
So, how did everyone here get into airsoft? How was your first real game?
Real game as in an OP?
Mine was wonderful. It was in a CQB type area, and my friend and I got placed onto another random squad. They were cool guys, and we had fun.
I think the very best part of the day was when it started raining, during night time. It was amazingly cool. We grouped with another squad as we quietly entered the enemy compound, and everyone just did what they needed without needing to be told. Some people watched the ramps near us, others watched our rear, and the rest stacked up to get down the hallway.
It felt so real to sit in the dark, the rain the only sound. The only light was from the moon and a couple dim lights farther into the 'town'.
I would trade any of the other OPs I've attended just to experience that short hour of nighttime rain.
Other than that experience, it was generally a good OP, though, like others, some people took it too seriously. At one point, no one wanted to go down a hallway because there were two guys at the end of it, and anyone who tried to storm that area would get destroyed. There was this one guy that was like "STOP CLUSTERFUCKING", "GOD DAMNIT MOVE", "YOU LITTLE PUSSY SHITS, MOVE". Finally, he took his own advice and tried to go into the hallway, and promptly got killed.
Very similar to the time that there was another hallway with the same kind of situation. People were hiding behind cover, and someone had gotten shot. I was a medic at the time. The medic rules there, the medic has to touch the person and count to thirty, but any teammate can touch the person and 'drag' (walk/crouch/anything but run) them away. I was in a safe spot, away from the line of fire, as I was the only medic nearby. As I said, someone had gotten shot, and people were yelling for a medic. I yelled back for them to drag him back, but I guess they didn't want to risk their life doing it. After like 3 minutes of this, I moved forward, behind an obstacle, still out of the line of fire. I still couldn't get to the guy, because there were too many people in the way, and I would have had to stay in danger to heal. I once again yelled for them to drag him back, now it's only dragging like the guy 4 feet, and they still didn't. I told them I was going to get back to safety if they didn't do something, and they again just yelled for medic and that type of shit. An enemy grenade promptly landed in the center of this group of people, and killed everyone, including me.
How did I get into airsoft...?
Well for me it started about 9-10 months ago, back then I was a Counter Strike Source fanatic and I'd found a site called fpsbanana.com the site had a massive collection of different custom player skins, maps, weapon models etc. for (as the name suggests) FPS games.
While looking at some of the skins for the M4 Colt Commando I was looking at the comments on one of the skins and I quote "I have an airsoft replica of this M4 it cost me 14,000 yen" thing is though if the person making the comment had said paintball gun I wouldn't have given it a second thought as I knew that you could get paintball guns that look like the real thing. But the fact that they said airsoft perked my interest so I googled it and the first hit I got was the airsoft wikipedia page and as I read through the discription the more I read the more I liked how the hobby sounded. So then I youtubed it and watched some vids of it in action and I liked what I was seeing even more.
So after visiting several other sites including arniesairsoft.co.uk, ai-mag.com and landwarriorairsoft.com I decided to give it a try. So I spent a few day trailing about the internet looking for game sites in the North East of England and came across NSC Airsoft who have a site in County Durham close to where I live. So I had a read through their website looking at prices, game dates etc. and so I decided to introduce myself on the forums got there for my first game day (which was f*$king awesome by the way although I looked like I'd been savaged by every nettle bush in the UK at the end of it  and the weather played ball so bonus :v: ) and since then I loved every minute of it and I'm showing no sign of losing interest any time soon.
So thats how I got started in the wonderful world of Airsoft :slick:
When Gander Mountain opened around here, I got my dad to buy me a Airsoft Pistol. (I still have it, lost it for a long time in the woods)Then I started to collect guns and gear off the internet.
Haven't had a 'real' game yet, just a bunch of my friends getting together and playing. I've been thinking about going down to Long Island to play on a real field.
In 06 I got a Cyma Uzi and two springer pistols for my birthday from my parents. Thus from that day onwards, Airsoft has had a soft spot in my heart.

I use one, it's ANSII rated. Nice FOV too.

Why would you go to LI, you live in CNY right? Theres like 10 fields in that area.
I live in Orange County. Could you direct me to some fields 'in my area' because I can't find any :C
I don't have any fields in my area.

It looks similar to mine. I have a Sabre Safety one that I got when I was in England. I'm going for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R look and that doesn't do much justice. I will probably use my one and add a tube to as I don't have a filter.

Oh I thought you lived in CNY, nevermind, most of them would be pretty far from you.
Theres one in Ithica, thats kinda close.
That's really far away, actually. Further then Long Island.

Should I just assume nobody here knows anything about AUGs then?

A bunch of people at the airsoft forum I visit have been trying to sell either that (saw one for $45), or the $250+ MSA 1000 gas mask usually for about $75-100
They can apparently withstand a 600 FPS gun.
I was very tempted, but I needed the money for other things :(

AUG's aren't very popular from what I can tell.
Well so guys im going to Taiwan this summer, I will be having my FIRST REAL game and get to play with my cousin's upgraded m24.
Who uses a Propane Adapter? What do you think of them? I'm kind of tired of buying Green Gas. Well, more like I can't FIND Green Gas to buy online or anywhere for that matter. Only off Amazon.
Propane requires you to mix silicon spray with it every 2 fills or so. Not only that but it smells like shit, I for one can't stand it at all. I give people a dirty look when they fill their mags with propane right next to me. If you're going to use propane, fill your mags away from everyone, you're doing them a favor.
So, how did everyone here get into airsoft? How was your first real game?
I got into Airsoft through one of my friends. And me being a war movie/documentary watcher, I got interested immediately. Still, it was about a year until I bought my first gun and a few months after that to get into my first game. It was just skirmishes all day long and we had a sort of camp/rest area where me and my friends just chilled and drank Pepsi.

If you smell it, then you're not doing a good job of filling the mag, are you? :v:
I only use propane. It's so much more common, and cheaper. $3 for a big thing of propane, plus $7-10 for a thing of silicon (that will last many many bottles of propane)
If you smell it, then you're not doing a good job of filling the mag, are you? :v:
Can't be helped on some mags, they naturally leak like a bitch when you fill them. Even then, you'll still smell it when you shoot it.
I've grown to like the smell of propane.
I've grown to like the smell of propane.
One of my favorite pre-OP quips:
"I love the smell of propane in the morning. Smells like....Victory."

Boy, you would hate me, especially once the M79 starts rocking :v: And actually, according to the instructions, you only have to mix the silicon in every 10 or so mags, and its more like 15 in reality.
Hell, if you maintain you gun and mags well, you dont really need the silicon at all. It just keeps you mag o-rings fresh really.

Could it be that the hop unit is sticking out too far, so when you've got the receiver pushed in it stops the nozzle from moving?
It could be that when you took your hop apart you didn't get it back onto the end of the barrel properly

Those sound like possible problems. I'll see what I can do later today.
Hey ender, apparently magpul pts have released a revised nozzle for the fpg, you might want to check it out and contact magpul pts while you're trying to get your mag catch sorted.
Apparently the current nozzle sticks sometimes and causes issues. I think it's the problem i'm having, sometimes mine just wont fire - the trigger wont actuate and the only way to fix it is to drop the mag, recock and reinsert mag.
Anyway, had some major fun with it today. Only really got into the swing of things on the last few games, but it's GREAT for rushing rooms with. Got some footage with my cam but its probably shitty and at a horrible angle, but we'll see. On a train home now so i'll be able to check in about 35 mins or so. :)
I fixed my AUG. It turns out there were two screws on the outer barrel that were keeping a little spring stuck in the wrong place, therefore not letting my inner barrel go in all the way.
So it's only until AFTER I get shitty footage that I find an easy and stable way to mount my camera with a decent view each time. Damnit.
Should I just assume nobody here knows anything about AUGs then?
I have only fired a few of them, your problem is that you bought an echo 1 gun.
echo 1 is a cheap rebrand company.
They buy say as 120 $ JG gun then add 50$ to the price and call it an echo 1.
