Hmm, the owner of Sequoia Airsoft emailed me today demanding I take down all my videos of that field, claiming I'm violating some part of the waiver I signed. Further more on one of the videos he commented that I was banned for saying you could use ammo other than field ammo as long as it was bio. It was either that or saying to use .25g to get through the chrono, yet I know players close to the staff there cheat this way. Hell one of them was caught shooting those clear .27g acrylic bioval bbs and CQB City the other weekend and he got chewed out about that. But even when I did say to those who had a hot to use heavier bbs, I told them to keep their distance as it could be a safety issue. It's not like I'm some ignorant bastard who wants people to get lit up with hot guns.
I ran through the waivers again looking for anything claiming I couldn't record and post videos of the field. Closest thing I could even find was this line.
FURTHER, I HEREBY GRANT FULL PERMISSION TO ANY AND ALL OF THE FOREGOING TO USE MY NAME, MY
VOICE, AND/OR MY PICTURE IN ANY BROADCAST, TELECAST, ADVERTISING, PROMOTION, OR OTHER
ACCOUNT OF THESE EVENTS FOR ANY PURPOSE WHATSOEVER.
Now honestly legal writing sucks to read, it's not written in any practical method that one would normally read something. From what I read, all it's saying is they can take your name and picture/video etc and use it for their promotion and advertising, nothing saying that I myself can't film. He was threatening with legal action if I didn't take them down, so just to make life easier I did. Though I do question on what grounds he thinks he could do such a thing.
Oh well, that's one less customer for him (along with my team that's sure to follow), along with the loss of free field promotion through my videos. Sequoia Airsoft has lost any reputation it's had (which is close to none) with this move, guess I get to shit talk about their field just like everyone else now.
We have non-regular members in this subforum? Also, somebody really needs to make an IFAP patch... I'd buy it.
Im a non regular.
Also if you people make a FP patch I'd wear it (somehow, I got the space to wear only 1 patch yet have a Specialist patch -my rank in the community-, one for my team, one for the community, my country's flag, the german flag, and I want to buy a Militaires Sans Frontiers patch).
Probably would be cheaper to make the patch here instead of buying one from you guys, though.
EDIT: Ender I'm not clear on crazy imperialist law, but did you film on his field or something? I think you're not allowed to do that without permission. Sounds retarded, I know, but there's some precedent. Let me search for that shit.
EDIT: Uh, is he by any chance an on-duty cop? Otherwise I don't think there should be a problem.
Maybe he can, through, as you said, shitty and incomprehensible legal writing, but even then it raises the question: "Why?"

He doesn't like free advertising, and more customers, obviously. :v:
I filmed on his field and posted it on YouTube, it wasn't receiving any income from using AdShare either, so no profit in it.
Yeah I know, I mean I don't know of a single other field that does this. Hell all the other fields I go to now always have 3-4 people running helmet cams now because of me. I mean it's really free promotion for these fields, I get many views asking where this is field is at and other info. It seems really stupid to narrow down your advertising and promoting to just the field staff, especially when they only film about 5 minutes of footage once every few years. I mean were out there filming on our own free time, advertising their field for free, I mean I don't see what's wrong with that.
The owner has lost what the meaning of airsoft is all about, just to have fun. Instead he's brought all this stupid business and law crap into it, and he won't even bother to maintain the field or have the refs do their job.
I'm sure it's well in his rights to tell you to take down the videos, but I honestly can't think of a good reason why he'd want to.
[editline]asd[/editline]
Do you have any friends or other people who have uploaded videos of their field? Do you know if those were asked to get taken down?

I know other people have uploaded videos from the field, even Airsoft Extreme had a clip or two uploaded. Not sure if they were taken down, but then again they didn't have nearly as many views as mine.
The thing is even the staff there think it's odd. One of them said the owner doesn't like the videos up, but the staff members themselves thought it was a dumb idea.
Didn't Sequoia have shit players anyway?
Didn't Sequoia have shit players anyway?
Yes they did. Shitty players, shitty staff.
Then I see it as no loss to you, but more of a double-loss to them. If they don't want good players there, then oh well for them. What I see happening is that people will notice you aren't playing there anymore, and on YouTube they'll ask questions why. If you explain what happened, chances are they'll leave the field too.
Yeah, I've heard nothing but bad things about Sequoia, except from your videos, which made it seemed like a decent place to play.
I like CQB City more anyway. Just seems more friendly to me, and I haven't even played there.

Eh, it was worth a try.
I like that. Maybe not in a circle style way, but I like it.
Rated artistic.
I only put the mostly good parts of the video in. For every good minute of film there's at least another 5 minutes of me or my team bitching about cheaters. Occasionally if I get a cheater on film and it's obvious, it goes into the video to single them out.
In the email he said he wanted me to take the down the videos, but the comments could stay due to free speech. So that means I could bad mouth him on my Youtube page and he can't do a thing. I'll see how this plays out then make up my mind on how I want to go about doing this.
That man makes no sense at all.
I made a really rough mock-up of a patch a while back, used it for an ArmA 2 squad, but I did a really quick one for FP.

Honestly, I don't really like it too much, but I guess it's worth a look.
I like those too. Pretty schweet.
Anyone have a decent quality version of the FP logo? I'm pretty decent with PS/AI.

So, in other words, he was using glass BB's that are clearly banned from field use.
I hate players like that.
There's a team of cheaters at my local place, they come every week and bring in a lot of income, which is needed for a new local business. But I believe that we could get more players if we kicked them out. do you guys agree with me?
Yes? It takes time for people to come in and see what the field's about though.
I got my hair cut today :3:

They're not glass, just a really hard plastic that doesn't shatter on impact like other bbs. They've been known for breaking windows and doing other kinds of damage.

I read a report saying that they were glass.

Even matched the MSDS sheets.
Not trying to prove you wrong or anything, I just read something different.
I'm reading their MSDS sheet right now.
"Hazardous Information:
Dangerous high velocity airsoft bb ammunition. Certified high velocity impact and
ballistic eyewear and face protection must be worn at all times.
May shatter when impacting hard surfaces.
May cause serious material damage to targeted areas.
May cause serious injury or death if handled without due diligence."
