I wonder how much such a mocap setup costs in total.
There is Kinect software for that.
There is Kinect software for that.
Kinect seems to be a nice solution for an animator on a budget, but it probably can't compete with professional tools.
it's a cameraless sensor-driven mocap system those are the sensors [editline]23rd August 2012[/editline] http://www.xsens.com/
A kit with 6 sensors costs 13900 euros. Ouch. And that's without suits :v:
Was the conductor Mike Moransky? I always figured him for a younger guy.
It's Morasky, not Moransky btw
Holy shit I know that valve puts "Valve Studio Orchestra" as the artist of their music but I didn't expect it to be a real orchestra, always thought they made their music digitally :v:
They used to, but I think they had an orchestra for TF2.
Whoa that's awesome. Affordable too! I mean, if you do animation a lot $550 must be a negotiable investment for ultra smooth and convincing character movements.
$550 just for a tight suit to hold the sensors that cost over $1,000 each.
Any HL3 hints in it?
Actually, yes. @ 0:23 to the right of the guys desktop you can see the launch HL3 icon.
receivers are at least $2000 but yeah
Hah. Yeah I should've read better. It seemed too good to be true anyway.
Actually, yes. @ 0:23 to the right of the guys desktop you can see the launch HL3 icon.
That's a half life 2 icon.
Now I'd like to see the making of the making of the trailer.
For some reason I kept thinking that they animated everything by hand and I was completely stumped on how they could be that good.
It looks like they get the basic movements from the motion capture, then tweak the animations for the actual video, i think they do it mostly by hand in the TF2 videos though.
For some reason I kept thinking that they animated everything by hand and I was completely stumped on how they could be that good.
before l4d i don't think they used mocap
For some reason I kept thinking that they animated everything by hand and I was completely stumped on how they could be that good.
I'm pretty sure all of TF2's animations are done by hand. Including the ones in the "Meet the" videos.
All that work and some of the in-game animations are less than impressive.
they don't use mocap for hand animations lol
they don't use mocap for hand animations lol
lol that's exactly what i suggested
Can't you do Mocap with a track IR? That's only 200 dollars.
