Have sex with lots of women, then you will become like tiger woods.
Worked for me. :smug: Anyway, when you take the club back, make sure it is on the target line when paralell to the floor, and take it up from there. On the swing down try and hit the ball before hitting the ground.
When you grip the club, make sure the club is mostly in your fingers. The two fingers which should be doing most of the gripping are the pinky and ring finger; The rest of the fingers are pretty much along for the ride. If the club is slipping when you grip it that way, you need new grips. Also, on your downswing, make sure you try to bring your elbow inside and open up your hips. That is where you will get power in your swing. But the best way to start hitting the ball better is to just keep thinking to yourself "look at the ball." It works for me when I start shanking everywhere.
When you grip the club, make sure your thumbs are pointed upward relative to the club (like they are pointing towards the head.) NEVER swing as hard as you can, ever. Always make sure to have solid contact with the ball rather than trying to get it far. Don't wind up your swing more than you have to. When you are aligned with where you want to hit it, look back at your ball, and do *not* look to where you are hitting it during or before you actually hit it (unless you are readjusting.) Lots of people are eager to see where their ball goes so they look straight for it right after they hit it. They screw up every time and look during their swing, which screws them up. In essence, concentrate on the ball when you think you are aligned and look nowhere else. And practice, practice, practice.
I golf every week in the Summer, I'm terrible though.
I want to play golf but I'm a weak piece of shit. :smith:
you don't need much strength.
Always finish with your belt buckle facing forward.
I'm terrible. I joined the golf team because i really enjoy the sport, but I need help. How do I get my swing better? How do I stop getting nervous before I swing? Any tips appreciated.
I can't give you tips on golf specifically, but the whole nerves issue will go away as you gain more confidence in your play. In order to truly succeed in any sport you need confidence in your play. Just practice until you're actually happy with where you are and you'll see a dramatic increase in your performance.
Pretend the golf stick is your dick
The funniest thing I found about this was that he called it a golf stick.
Oldest trick in the book, works for me. If I'm trying to get the ball far, instead of angrily swinging with brute force, casually swing at it with normal force and you'll see it go farther. Sorry if my golf lingo is off.
I've only ever played a real game of golf once and I managed to get a hole in one at about 150 yards which made me fuckin speechless. Get some professional lessons and you'll suddenly see your ability to get the ball where you want it to go increase.
just dont think!!
I used to play years ago. My advice would be; Don't try and smash the ball, or over think about your shot, just hit it normally, and it will go just as far, and you won't fuck it up. Don't hold the club too hard, or too loose, you'll find that out yourself though. Concentrate on where you want the ball to go. And, a main one; use your shoulders, rather than your elbows, and make sure they are nice and loose rather than tensed. That's my 2 cents.
Only old people play golf.
I'm in the same boat as you. Here's a tip though, if you are about to swing and something doesn't feel right, don't be afraid to step away and set up again.
I want to play golf but I'm a weak piece of shit. :smith:
I work at a golf course and 70% of golfers there are old and weak looking. Its all in the technique.

• Practice a lot, I used to play golf and it took some time to get the swing right. You'll feel when you do the right thing, it's almost like the ball isn't there. Get it perfect, and then focus on the length. • Don't take long breaks, you'll forget everything! (At least, I did).
I suggest. Practice. Go to a local school oval on the weekend. Try a golf forum. They would have better advice than Facepunch. google this shit out of golf swing tutorials.
I think the problem is somewhat that I take my back-swing extremely quickly. I've stopped doing this now, but then the follow-through becomes faster and I end up slicing it terribly or it goes 30 yards because I topped it. I think speed is the opposite of what I need to work on.
Pendulum bud - whatever you do on your backswing, do it when you bring the club down. Following through is the key to a perfect shot. Work on your swing before worrying about the power and the distance. My friend taught me that a few years ago and it's worked wonders for my game. Him and I practiced soft swings until I had them down pat, then moved on to power and distance. Hope this helped.
