BMW 525i. Actually I think some kid ran into it with a bicycle or something, since there was a scratch on the doorhandle as well. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3864447/PICS/2011-02-20%2012.14.46.jpg[/img_thumb]
Wow. Put posters up around your neighborhood or something, that kid better fucking pay.
Or just watch out on your street for a bike without caps over the handlebars and handlebars the same height as whatever bike hit your car.
I bought a truck* today and once again have a vehicle of my own and will probably start posting quite a bit around here.. Maybe take some before/after pictures of the truck starting Tuesday (can't register the truck til then, can't get it here til I can register it).
Truck has a broken rear shock mount and, since I live in New England and it is a 93, is pretty rusty underneath but still inspectable. Some through-and-through body holes that'll be hit with some bondo..
One rear cab mount bracket (a bracket coming off the frame, passenger side, I believe) is rotted enough that the cab mount slips right through the hole.. I don't think this will make it fail inspection (i've heard of a lot of trucks w/ this problem for years w/ stickers) but we're gonna throw a big ass washer in there or something to at least give the mount something to sit on and make it look like it isn't rusted through. It doesn't really "hold" the cab so i think it's really only cosmetic, thus why it wouldn't fail inspection for it.. dunno.
Have to order the rear shock mount, figure i may as well get both sides and new shocks while i'm at it. Just gonna get some Monroe shocks from Advanced Auto and order the rear shock mounts off eBay ($100 + $16 shipping). Replace both rear shocks and both rear shock mounts when they come in cause what the hell, one failed and the other doesn't look far behind and while i'm in there, it's probably 2-3 bolts tops to take out the shock so it only makes sense.
Going down to register it on Tuesday (Monday being President's Day and all), drive back out to the guy's house (about 45 minutes or so), slap the plates on her, and drive her home (did I mention it was only $1200?)..
Since the truck has timbrens and there is enough snow in the back to compress the spring in the rear that still has the mount attached, i'll just ride the timbrens home. Gonna be a very.. well.. truck ride, but it won't really soften up even when it has both shocks and no load in the bed.
*1993 Chevy K1500 Z71, 5.7 (350) V8 with what i believe is a 4 speed (3 + OD I think) automatic. Since it's the Z71, locking rear differential and other little goodies like skid plates. Cool thing is the first owner had it retrofitted for 134a for the AC system, it was originally R12 (i believe) which is now no longer being produced and there's this awesome digital-ish display for the heat/ac. Heat cranks, too. God damn pleasant in that truck when it's cold out.
ps:
this post is a lot longer than i thought
Can't wait to see the pictures. I love 90's vehicles.

nice pinstripe
nice pinstripe
I was gonna say, park on the other side of the street so when it happens to the other side, you can just say it's a facny pinstripe. lol
Today is was amazing driving weather though. It got up to about 72F, and right now at 8:24pm it's a perfect 62F (16.6C) with a mild breeze. I just wanna drive forever. It's even better that I put my new suspension on my car.
How deep is it? Looks wide enough that it's not a gouge, and some polishing might take some of it out?

Ok my dad wanted me to ask this to you guys since you live everywhere but Norway.
Does anybody know of some place that sell a carburetor to his Suzuki for under $290?
This one exactly: Suzuki Samurai carburetor conversion kit m-choke
They cost like 4000,- in Norway...
hi cars thread, my drivers side door lock froze up so whenever i have to get in or out of my car, i have to make this awesome mission impossible roll over the passenger seat because theres practically no room to move across the seats in my tiny car.

It's unfortunately all the way through to the steel. Got a $900 quote from a body shop today, think I may get the right paint and such and do it myself.
gahh
my friend traded his miata for a 2001 vw gti 1.8T and ever since i've been wanting something newer/nicer. When I was looking at 240's everyone who owned them said they're harsh, loud, and you'll never get a girl with it. I thought "B.S.". But after seeing my friends GTI which has a nice stereo and power everything, I want something like that too.
I gave a girl I know a ride, and now she's scared of my car.
Theres
-almost no sound deadening
-no ac/heat
-20 year old paper speakers hooked up to a stereo with no antenna
-the weatherstripping is all old so it doesn't match up well so when if it's not garaged the inside gets covered in dew
I want something that is still fast but is more comfortable than a 240. At first I thought a EVO, but those are still pretty high in price. Then I remembered 1JZ/2JZ SC300's.
