So tonight I was teaching my date how to drive stick in my car in an empty parking lot.
I don't think I'll be doing that again anytime soon.

welcome to australia's p-plate (just got your license laws) restrictions.
from the huge power restrictions, to the not being allowed to modify the car, they're not going to be anything flash
not to mention it can't be turbocharged or supercharged
it's a big step down from driving a subaru liberty sti and bmw m5.
Since I am going to be a car owner soon, I'd appreciate some advice for when I get the car. Also, I have boiled it down to five choices: BMW, Honda, Nissan, Volkswagen, or Volvo. Which of these cars do you guys recommend?
Find yourself a VW golf. Those are good cars from what I heard, or maybe a jetta.

Asking 10K. Worth it? Supposedly rebuilt engines, looks like it's been modded for offroad. Older Wrangler, not sure what year, I'm not a Jeep guy. I just saw it and know everyone seems to like Jeeps, so I figured I'd take a look.
Also, just down the street was an '04 Liberty, one owner. $9,900.

Well I think it's worth $10k by the looks and description you've made. The rims and tires it has could be worth $2k alone

The Trabant is actually a really useful car if you think of it like me.
It's like a prettier version of shit like this (quite big space in the back and two seats is where I'm going):

the extent of my knowledge is it says "rebuilt engine" on the for sale paper, and it has offroad tires, so... :v:
Well I can give you some tips for everyday people when buying a quite old car:
Have a careful look around the bodywork for rust and dents.
When you're test driving it, test every switch and button to make sure everything works.
Also test the brakes on a long straight line without any cars around. Brake moderately hard to see if it stays in a straight line. If the steering wheel drags to one side it could be a caliper problem which isn't that expensive or hard to fix.
Listen to the exhaust to make sure it's not leaking from any holes.
Look under the hood for any obvious oil leaks and also look on the ground where the car has been for a while to check for any oil (or anything else) stains.
:eng101:
...I've been watching Wheeler Dealers alot lately
also the smell
if it rapes with the smell of febreeze, it could be a stinky smoker car
or if the headliner is yellowed, thats a sign of smokin

[release]1) Go to Auto Zone. Get 2 cans of GUNK CITRUS 2 STEP CLEANER/DETAILER.
http://www.gunk.com/msds/CEB1.PDF

2) Get a plastic shopping bag (Assuming all of you have a aftermarket intake.)
3) Let the engine get totally cool and dry. Cover the intake with the plastic bag and apply the GUNK 2 Step Detail Spray. I prefer to do this step at the power washer, because the power washer will REALLY get rid of all the dirt in the hard to get spots.

4) Let the GUNK sit for 5 minutes, and then if you have a REAL dirty engine bay, use a brush and scrub the most dirty areas with the brush or rags.

5) Spray off engine compartment. Use power washer at this step if you really want a clean engine compartment.

6) Repeat this process again without the brush. This will assure all the dirt has been washed away.

7) Let the engine completely dry.
8) Apply the Gunk again. Let it soak on the engine for 20 minutes. (DO NOT WASH IT OFF THIS TIME!) Wipe down the entire engine, although the instructions do not say this. This will make the shine much better and remove the excess detail spray.

9) Run the engine for 20 minutes with the hood open then drive it for 10 minutes. This will seal the coatings.
11) Use Mothers Metal polish on any polished surfaces to bring out the shine.

That's it, and the motor will stay looking new for about a month, then you need to repeat the process.

Enjoy
Check it out. Invited Ryan over for an Hardtop engine detailing party. I suppose you could say this is a slight improvement.

I've read Gunk should only be used for Heavy Duty cleaning...yeah I'm gonna have to Gunk it.
I have been looking for a first car for a while, especially interested in the E36's, was with dad and he suggested car auctions, so i googled places and found one on the way home. Went there, looked around for a bit and saw it, a red BMW 325i 2 door, looked pretty decent with a few flaws.
they started the auctions, i went and got the list of cars up for auction today, it was up for auction in 10 or so lots, Signed up to bid. no one else even attempted to bid for it, got it for 2k under reserve (paid 5k for it in total)
only have a picture from the sellers site currently because i need to wait to tommrow to pick it up.

First thing to do, replace the bumpers/side skirts with the sports version that's painted the matching colour

I literally stumbled onto it. There aren't many E36 around where i live that aren't 318i, and i really wanted something with a bit more power.
I've been wanting a decent BMW thats 5 grand or less, and haven't had much luck. So far everything I've found is either old, broken, or has high mileage
Is there such thing as 5.7L I4's? or I6's?
Yup, and they are usually diesels.
I think the Cummins in Rams is about 5.7L isn't it? Nope, 5.9L I6

I remember when someone relisted my old Bronco. I've never been so offended in my life.
I'm trying to decide a color scheme for my hatch.
Im thinking purple. purple wheels, cage, valve cover, and purple Tial EWG and BOV.
But how would the purple look on white? On black it's sick but im not sure about white

Purple cars are hit or miss, be careful.
dont risk the purple
I may have to sell my dodge rampage, my dad has been cleaning out the place and he says it needs to go. Reason is it doesnt look to well, makes the whole property look bad which I can agree with. You have all these nice drag cars and a cool shop and all then you look at the piece of shit rampage and it makes the land seem like it's owned by rednecks with more cars than brain cells.
I'd hate to see it go though, this may be my last summer with it. It is in top condition, runs perfect just takes a bit to get it to idle. It's strictly a farm/project car, so it won't go for much. Id hate to sell it knowing it's going to go to some redneck or little shit who will beat the crap out of the car so I'm considering donating it to the automotive program at the nearby highschool.
If I do end up selling it I hope to get maybe $750 for it (+it's a manual), being it is rare as fuck and runs perfectly, it's just the body that makes it bad. Going to be hard for me but the money will go towards either another project (prefferable a old mopar which I would enjoy better than it) which would be great or some goodies for the coronet.
Back from weekend of dreeft! Two of our three cars died, lol.
The widebody S15 blew it's transmission after getting the IKEYA dog box shifter, and the turbo AE86 smashed it's differential.
They're both fixed up and ready to drive now, but they stood still for 2 of 3 days in this weekend. We had a fucking blast in the pit area though. 5 boxes of Mad-Croc and a sunny weekend. It was awesome.
Here's some pics from the weekend that somebody else took
