Hello. I'm directing a short film along with my friend over the course of this summer, and I could use a little help. I'm usually just the VFX guy, so I'm not too great at directing the film myself. As for my friend, I feel he could do a decent job, but I'm not too confident about it. The film will be based around a zombie outbreak starting, and these few survivors who plan to make it to a "safe-zone" a few towns away, and they encounter many zombies and problems along the way. There is a lot more to it, and I'm still working on the plot though, adding things to make it more interesting. I thought there might be some people on the forum who have more experience in filming and camera techniques, and I'm hoping someone could lend some tips and tricks so I can make the film as best as possible. I've looked on youtube for things such as this but it mostly goes for vlog type stuff, and the clearly obvious things. But yeah, I'd appreciate it very much if anyone could help out a little.
I was reading up on filming techniques a couple of days ago, this video is really good:

For After Effects stuff, go watch Video Copilot's tutorials.
The video was kind of helpful, thanks for sharing. And I'm good on the effects part, I have quite a bit of practice with it. I just feel like my videos are missing something. maybe I just need a little more practice filming. I think I try to rush things sometimes and don't take time to realize the small mistakes at the given moment.
