Right, but in general like 99.99% of the posts would have been against what I was saying. I didn't think of that until I read the first few posts.
Now, basically what I think about death is, it is related to being "half asleep" or "half awake", meaning when you're partially asleep/awake, your brain can't sent messages to the rest of the body because your nerve impulses won't respond, because what I think is the sub conscience takes over while you're basically sleeping and generates your personal traits in to dreams. (Example: What you're scared of, what you like, what you're thinking of, etc) In other words, what kind of person you are. If you watch a very scary movie, and you're scared shitless for the next few days, your sub conscience is generating what you're most concerned about at that time. (In that case, it would be what ever movie you watched, and most likely yourself being in the scary situation. And while asleep, your sub conscience doesn't actually keep track of the information that you dream about, which is why I think you would have a hard time remembering your dreams. In my opinion, since the sub conscience generates picture in your mind while your body is resting, and not responding to nerve impulses, and when you awaken from a scary dream, that you don't want to be in, in other words your sub conscience begins to panic because your body won't respond to the nerve impulses, and when your body finally does, that is why you jump up in shock and your heart beats at a surprisingly fast rate for a short period of time, until you get a grip on reality. In dreams that you're aware of what's actually happening, but you can't seem to move yourself, that's another reason why you begin to just ramble thoughts mindlessly in your head, because your sub conscience is beginning to panic because the nerve impulses won't respond.
1. When the brain dies the conscious dies. First point against you. 2. This idea is completely inconsistent and has no logical backing.
When someone dies, their brain has been scientifically proven to fire off for about fifteen minutes with rapid activity. Also when someone has a dream that seems like it takes up hours or even days, it really is the brain firing for about 2-5 seconds. Because of this the fifteen minutes of activity after we die can be up to hundreds of years of dreams. People have said this is why when people die 'their life flashes before their eyes.' Using this logic, the life we are living now has a high possibility of being part of our dying brain activity, we may already be dead.
:psyboom: Never thought of it like that.
Right, but in general like 99.99% of the posts would have been against what I was saying. I didn't think of that until I read the first few posts.
If your idea can't stand up to any sort of scrutiny, why the fuck do you believe it? It makes absolutely zero fucking sense.
Right, but in general like 99.99% of the posts would have been against what I was saying. I didn't think of that until I read the first few posts.
So you posted something as silly as that, and didn't expect people to diagree with you? o lawdy
Right, but in general like 99.99% of the posts would have been against what I was saying. I didn't think of that until I read the first few posts.
They're persecuting you! You know what that means? YOU MUST BE RIGHT! EDIT: Oh shit 100th post :buddy:
2. This idea is completely inconsistent and has no logical backing.
That's another reason why I didn't want to share the information anymore. I had no real "logical backing", so I figured I would get replies referring to how I have nothing to back up the information. And @Kybalt, It's not so much that I believe it, but there are so many theories, I figured what ever I had there was what seemingly made sense to me. I kind of agree with the fact that none of it scientifically makes sense, but what the fuck does science have to prove about dreams, and the other shit that I had explained there? What I had brought up, hadn't been, and still hasn't been looked in to very much in science. Maybe death has been studied, but science still doesn't cover everything that people say doesn't "Scientifically make sense". Science hasn't really proven shit about this topic.
that's another reason why i didn't want to share the information anymore. I had no real "logical backing", so i figured i would get replies referring to how i have nothing to back up the information.
Then don't believe it.
That's another reason why I didn't want to share the information anymore. I had no real "logical backing", so I figured I would get replies referring to how I have nothing to back up the information.
I think you mean "have" as in, you still don't have any rational explanation for believing this. You probably hold this belief because it helps you cope with the fact that you're going to die. If you have no evidence for something, believing it is IRRATIONAL and STUPID.
This is some depression stuff. Possibly a sexual desire or childhood experience?
I think you mean "have" as in, you still don't have any rational explanation for believing this. This isn't "depression stuff", empire.
I'm dying? D;
Maybe. But you are going to die.
I think you mean "have" as in, you still don't have any rational explanation for believing this. If you have no evidence for something, believing it is IRRATIONAL and STUPID.
Who are you to tell people what to and what not to believe in? And I don't even believe in this stuff 100%, but think of it, there's nearly NO information that covers these topics, so there's no true information to believe in, in the first place. It's just something that keeps people thinking. If you don't think it makes sense, then go make up your own fucking theory. Stop trying to tell people what to do. Can this thread be locked please..? This thread has turned in to exactly what I didn't want it turn in to.
Who are you to tell people what to and what not to believe in?
This isn't "depression stuff", empire.
Somebody didn't understand the joke.
There's no real information that supports most of the things that I had explained, but people have been coming up with different theories for thousands of years. And that's a crappy joke -.-
Who are you to tell people what to and what not to believe in?
I'm not telling you what to believe. I'm telling you that what you believe makes no fucking sense, while there are completely logical explanations for this.
And I don't even believe in this stuff 100%, but think of it, there's nearly NOTHING that covers these topics, so there's no true information to believe in, in the first place.
Neuroscience, thermodynamics, physics, etc etc. None of these support a conciseness that can move between bodies. While they do all support the conclusion that once your brain dies, you die. There is no evidence for a soul what so ever.
It's just something that keeps people thinking.
Yeah. I'm thinking how you could possibly believe something so irrational.
If you don't think it makes sense, then go make up your own fucking theory. Stop trying to tell people what to do.
You don't make up a theory. Theories come from studying a subject, gathering evidence, to test a hypothesis. Again, I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just pointing out the flaws in your logic.
There's no real information that supports most of the things that I had explained, but people have been coming up with different theories for thousands of years. And that's a crappy joke -.-
Yea and almost all of them have been utterly, totally wrong. And you may have answered this already, but again, why would you believe something that has absolutely no evidence behind it? You can't just make up random shit and say "Here's what i believe"
Yea and 99.9% of them have been utterly, totally wrong.
Hypocrite. First you pull statistics out of your ass, and then you attack him for making up conclusions.
Oh come on, it's not a statistic that actually matters. It was just a way of saying "Most every theory throughout the ages has been wrong"
Kybalt's thread now :colbert:
Oh come on, it's not a statistic that actually matters. It was just a way of saying "Most every theory throughout the ages has been wrong"
:smug: Well it's 1am. I'm outa here.
Oh come on, it's not a statistic that actually matters. It was just a way of saying "Most every theory throughout the ages has been wrong"
The point remains, you keep talking shit. It's not reasonable to say that almost every theory has been wrong when you do not know the amount of theories there are, the portion that are correct and the definition of wrong. Some theories are models that are understood to be lacking, yet they're still used because there's some truth to them.

You don't get a theory by pulling an idea out of nowhere, you build it around observation and evidence. There's no observation or evidence that points towards the mind surviving after death, and quite a large amount that points away from that idea.
Kybalt needs to take a chill pill. Never seen such a "hardcore atheist" anyways; IMO the OP's idea is interesting, but I don't believe it, same goes for reincarnation to me. You people need to stop being such douches. (what do you mean you people?)
Who are you to tell people what to and what not to believe in? Who are we to say that pigs can't fly? There is no logical or scientific backing so it isn't something that people will clamour around to hear nor should it be. And I don't even believe in this stuff 100%, Why did you share it then? but think of it, there's nearly NO information that covers these topics, so there's no true information to believe in, in the first place. It's just something that keeps people thinking. If you don't think it makes sense, then go make up your own fucking theory. Stop trying to tell people what to do. Yeah teacher, if you think I'm wrong then come up with your own idea. WW2 ended with Abraham Lincoln kicking Hitler in his one nut
Anyone got a gif of someone running around in a circle waving their arms in the air?
