Hey I have that album! :haw:
What's the keyboard for?
You can make notes, look stuff up in the dictionary, and of course search for books in their store.
I laughed my ass off at the Soldier quote in Times New Roman. Seriously, do these things have just one font or something?
Nook is better. :c00l: But really. The Kindle is great, and I've used one before, but my friend recently got a Nook, and when I went over to his house I hijacked it for a few hours. The Nook just seems better to me.
When I used my father's old kindle (before I got an iPhone with the Kindle app) I grew rather fond of their whisper net, I don't think anything can really compete with the Kindle until they get a comparable service.
I actually really wanted one of these, until I realized how unattractive the prospect of spending $300 to read text on a 4 inch LCD was to me.
It isn't a 4 inch screen, it has a 6 inch screen, and you actually save money in the long run if you read a lot.
I am thinking of getting the Nook. I would probably pick the Nook over the Kindle for the fact that the Nook has already been cracked and already has had Pandora installed on it and stuff like that. Also, being able to read the epub format is nice, seeing as it is the most popular format. Though if I were to seriously consider buying one, I would still have a hard time choosing.
*Ahem* Can it run Crysis?
*Ahem* Can it run Crysis?
That's just retarded i'm sorry.
That's just retarded i'm sorry.
You're new here aren't you?
Aw, sweet! Does it have House of Leaves?
House of Leaves just won't be the same on one of these things.
I actually really wanted one of these, until I realized how unattractive the prospect of spending $300 to read text on a 4 inch LCD was to me.
it's not an LCD, it's e-ink which means it actually has good contrast
I have one, it's made of wood. I call it the "Kindling"
I prefer the nook tbh
this looks cool, but not cool enough to spend $250+ on. there's an app for the iphone/ipod touch that is free, except you have to buy the books i assume.
I have that exact CD, we must be related!
We all do it's Queen Nobody dislikes Queen
I prefer the nook tbh
It has a slower refresh rate and UI.
As if reading books wasn't nerdy enough, people had to jack up the nerdometer by making computer that displays books.
I don't get E-Book readers. They are like £200 and then you gotta pay nearly the same price for the E-Books as you would for the real paper and ink.
I don't get E-Book readers. They are like £200 and then you gotta pay nearly the same price for the E-Books as you would for the real paper and ink.
Nope, it is quite a bit cheaper for the books.
Nope, it is quite a bit cheaper for the books.
Plus there's an ungodly amount of free ebooks. I'm getting a Kindle for Christmas. I believe it arrived at my parent's house today, actually. :> Christmas should come faster.
I would buy one if i had the money. The main reason I don't like books is because they are big and chunky
Nope, it is quite a bit cheaper for the books.
Not if you're comparing eBook to Paperback. Most eBooks cost about the same as the Paperback version.
Suddenly book piracy
I find that I spend enough time gawping at screens. I wouldn't really want to spend an exciting evening surfing the web, then go to bed and look at another screen. That's what's always put me off those e-readers.
Totally my stance
Not if you're comparing eBook to Paperback. Most eBooks cost about the same as the Paperback version.
Depends on what books you are comparing really, but new releases you save upwards of $15 off the hardback version.
I have one, it's made of wood. I call it the "Kindling"
I love you, Cosmic Duck
House of Leaves just won't be the same on one of these things.
After reading this, I did some more research on the book. It looks really interesting to read, how good is the writing in it? And yes, some books obviously aren't going to be easily transfered to the kindle. But if the book was transfered into PDF format, than the kindle could probably do it. Though the Kindle DX is probably more suited to that kind of thing.
You got an early Christmas present in January? Freak
