It seems overpriced - to me anyway. I am not an avid reader, and would get bored after a while. What would actually make me want to buy this little device for such a price would be:
-Web Browsing (Checking FP while on public transport etc, doesnt have to be perfect)
-Ability to check mail, go on msn
-Apps (simple ones, but still)
-Text editor (Why not write an essay on this? It seems perfect..)
-Additional Backlight (What if I want to read in the dark?)
Sounds like you need an iPad! :v: :v: :v:
I guess it would pay off if you read a lot. I still like having a collection of books though.
The idea is really great, because sometimes I'm annoyed to get some books via shops or online shopping. Furthermore in my shitty country you can't find any book on the market. This nifty device would solve the problem although I prefer reading in a book then a small screen.
I prefer Stanza on my iPod with free book repos, only problem is the screen size.
I love how the screen is soft and easy to look at for extended periods, unlike a computer screen.
Unfortunately my screen froze and the reset button isn't working. It's been showing a picture of the same freaking page for two and a half weeks now and I'm probably going to return it for a new one. I was browsing the 'beta' internet and the page I was on had some huge pictures, so it's probably why it froze.
Holy crap, I just saw the price tag.
Overpriced for sure.
I don't like them. Not because of any bugs or anything it works great. I just prefer having a book so much more.
I prefer the nook tbh

I do too. might get one, I enjoy the convenience of reading on my Droid, but the screen hurts your eyes after like 10 minutes. Thinking of getting one.
My dad has one, I like that it doesn't hurt your eyes.
Yeah, thats why they are good, it feels good to read.
I see a girl in my history class reading one of those all the time, the teacher yells at her for it.
God she's cute.
The iPad , although overpriced and overrated is going to eat this thing alive.
I would rather have a book, but that seems pretty handy if you don't have the room to bring all your books with you, say, on vacation or something like that.

Really?
Doesn't the iPad have an lcd screen? They're hardly pleasant to read from for long periods of time. The kindle uses something called e-ink which is basically the same as reading from a book.
Translated into its simplest terms, electronic ink is all about a bunch of tiny slimy bubbles. The bubbles live in plastic sheets of film within the displays, and inside each one is a mix of black and white particles floating around in fluid. The Kindle sends an electrical charge into the bubbles, and that makes the particles move upward or downward -- thus creating the ink-like appearance of images and words on your screen.
What I'm hoping is that the iPad will cause them to lower the prices of their e-readers
I wanted one but then I realised I just want one because it's cool, I never read books.
Haha.
I wish I had one of those.
For my ebook reading, I have to use my phone. And I have:

It sucks, but it's better than using my computer. I can't stand sitting upright and reading a book on my monitor.
And Project Gutenberg has a lot of good, free books that are legal. They're all old, but still a lot of good stuff. I just got done reading A Study in Scarlet.
Do they have the complete DnD 3.5 rulebook set?
[editline]05:03PM[/editline]
I'm serious.
i might get a kindle but i heard that with kidles you have to buy ebooks from the store, you can't use any you already have/download for free
i might get something similar though

Has anyone used the new Kindle 3? Is it worth it?

I don't want to get a Kindle after reading this:

I got one for xmas, it's amazing. Easy to use, good interface, everything.
Read the book "Shit my dad says".. it's short but it's a good read and pretty funny.
I just buy the books I want to read on Amazon, I never really had the need for a kindle.
The new kindle is great.
I'm not a huge book reader so I'd probably find something like the ipad a lot more useful, for on the go web browsing, except it doesn't support flash and it's expensive as hell.
The answer: Android tablet.
It has, and i Quote, over 320,000 books (and counting) available for download from their store. and the books are much cheaper b/c of no paper cost. ($30 books for $9.99 anyone?)
There are also free books from the Gutenberg project
To me, it just looks like an iPad with a smaller a screen and more like a gameboy. Sure, it's less expensive, but for me the screen is a big issue for me.
